Access Guide
Introduction
- This route is from the Students Union to the Sports Cage.
- This route is via university access roads and paths. This route passes the Carwyn James Building.
- This route is approximately 350m long and takes approximately 4 minutes to complete on foot.
- The main hazards on this route include uncontrolled road crossings and steep gradients.
Students Union to Sports Cage
- Exit the Students Union into the Piazza.
- Exit the Piazza via the lower lift.
- Turn left on to the pavement after exiting the Piazza lower lift.
- Cross the parking area immediately in front of you.
- This crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
- This crossing is shown in photographs 1 and 2.
- Continue straight ahead on the pavement.
- This pavement has a level and even tarmac surface, 130cm wide.
- At the end of the path turn right to cross the road.
- This crossing has tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides.
- This crossing is shown in photographs 6, 7 and 8.
- Head straight ahead and follow the path bearing left.
- This path has an even concrete surface with a steep gradient and is 120cm wide.
- There is bench seating just off the path, periodically along the route.
- The path ends at the Carwyn Jones car park entrance.
- Cross the Carwyn Jones entrance.
- This crossing has tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides.
- The far side of the crossing is slightly to the right, 25m away.
- This crossing is shown in photographs 15 and 16.
- Continue straight ahead.
- This path has an even concrete surface with a slight gradient, 140cm wide.
- At the end of the path cross the university access road to the left.
- This crossing has tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides.
- This crossing is shown in photographs 18 and 19.
- The Sports Cage entrance ramp is directly ahead and on the right from the crossing and is shown in photograph 20.
