Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (Book shop)

  • Turn left after you leave the car park to the pelican crossing, which is approximately 40 metres away.
    There are drop kerbs on both sides of the pelican crossing.
    Cross the road and turn right, continue for approximately 40 metres to the site entrance.
    Once you enter the site the book shop is the first building on the left, approximately 7 metres from the site entrance.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Shop

  • Access into the shop is via steps and a slight ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
  • The portable ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • Please contact a member of staff for use of the portable ramp.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 122cm.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • All flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
  • There is step-free level access around the shop.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • Services/facilities available in the shop include: a member of staff to provide assistance and a standard wheelchair to borrow.
