Introduction

The distance from the Derwent College Nucleus to the Sports Centre is approximately 720m.
There are slight slopes along the route and various different sorts of surfaces.

Upon exiting the building, turn left out of the courtyard and head down the path to Derwent College Block K.
There is a slight downhill gradient along the path (photographs 1, 2, 3 and 4).
On reaching Block K, head through the Block K walkway which has a 95cm gate on either side (photographs 5, 6 and 7).

Once past Derwent College Block K, turn left across the bridge, which has a width of 120cm (photographs 1 and 2).
On the other side of the bridge turn right and head towards the Exhibition Centre, Physics and Electronic Engineering Building (photographs 3, 4 and 5).
The path is uneven and is liable to have ducks and other kinds of waterfowl walking along it.
After approximately 160m there is a path to your left that leads past the University Health Centre (photographs 6 and 7).
This path continues for approximately 35m until it joins the path going around the Exhibition Centre, Physics and Electronic Engineering Building (photograph 8).

Continue ahead along the path to the left of the Exhibition Centre, Physics and Electronic Engineering Building.
After 45m take the path on the right and continue to follow round to the right for 75m to reach Newton Way.
The surface of the path is tarmac.

Cross Newton Way by using the zebra crossing located ahead upon reaching Newton Way.
The zebra crossing is level with the kerb and has tactile paving on either side (photograph 1).
Turn right onto James Way (photograph 2) and continue along the pavement.
Along the path is a small service road with tactile paving on either side (photograph 3).
There is a zebra crossing along the service road entrance to the other side of James Way, with tactile paving on the far side (photograph 4).
Turn left and continue ahead (photograph 5) to the service road into car park 6.3 - West Campus Car Park, which has tactile dropped kerbs on either side (photograph 6).
After crossing the service road continue along James Way for approximately 100m (photographs 7, 8, 9 and 10).
Upon reaching a dropped kerb on the opposite side of the road (photograph 11) cross over to it and turn right to the sports centre (photographs 12 and 13).
