Part of the South Lake Leisure Centre complex, South Lake Water sports is based within the beautiful tranquil Craigavon City Park but within easy walking distance of Rushmere Shopping Centre

South and North Lakes - Jetties and Pontoons

  • Photographs 1 and 2 show the permanent steep ramp leading to the accessible pontoon.
  • The ramp has handrails on both sides and is 150cm wide.
  • Photographs 4 and 5 show the standard jetty and pontoons at the rear of South Lake Leisure Centre.
  • The gates are opened by staff during the season.
  • Photograph 6 shows the tactile paving at the lakes edge.
  • During the opening season there are various activities available including kayaking, open water swimming, an inflatable obstacle course, banana boat ride, wakeboarding and water skiing.
  • The lakes are home to rainbow trout pike, perch, roach, bream and otters.

Wheely Boat and Canoe

  • The ramp to access the boat has a slight gradient and no handrails.
  • The width of the ramp is 120cm.
  • The boat will comfortably take two wheelchair users with carers and staff members.
  • Photograph 5 shows the steep ramp on the approach to the mooring.
  • Photograph 6 shows the accessible canoe which has one stick control and is uncapsizable.
  • There is a hoist available if required to access the canoe.
  • The hoist was not available on the day of the surveyors visit, so could not be photographed (13/10/2021).

Accessible Cycles

  • The accessible cycles are brought from the store to the outdoor concourse.
  • Photographs 1 and 2 show the bike with a wheelchair platform.
  • The platform is 77cm wide by 95cm deep.

  • A bowl of water can be provided for an assistance dog.
  • An assistance dog toilet area can be provided onsite.
  • The assistance dog toilet area is located on the grass areas around the venue.
