Introduction

  • The following information describes the route from Aston Train Station to Villa Park.
  • The approximate distance of this route is 900m.
  • The route takes approximately 10 minutes.
  • The route leads along Lichfield Road, Grosvenor Road, Queens Road and Witton Lane towards the stadium.
  • The majority of paths along the route are tarmac.
  • There is large street signage located along the route directing you to the stadium.
  • The potential hazards on this route include; busy roads, crossing points and congested pathways.
  • On matchdays before and after kick-off, Witton Lane is closed to traffic.

Aston Station

  • There is step-free access along the platforms.
  • There is a portable ramp available for access to and from the train. Please contact the train company in advance if you require use of the ramp.
  • There are no toilets available at the station.
  • There are lifts or 15+ steps leading from the platforms to Lichfield Road.

Aston Station to Grosvenor Road

  • After exiting the lift, turn right and follow the path along Lichfield Road for approximately 60m until you reach the turning onto Grosvenor Road.
  • There is step-free access along the path.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac and block paving.
  • There is a bus shelter along the route which restricts the width of the path. . The width of the path remains over 100cm wide.
  • Follow the path as it bears right onto Grosvenor Road and the pedestrian crossing.

Grosvenor Road Pedestrian Crossing

  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at the crossing point.
  • The crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
  • The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
  • There are rotating cones located at the base of the push button boxes to indicate when it is safe to cross.
  • Caution is advised due to traffic moving in both directions.

Grosvenor Road to Queens Road

  • After completing the crossing, turn right and follow the path for approximately 230m until you reach the turning onto Queens Road.
  • There is step-free access along the path.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The path crosses a number of driveways into residential properties.
  • There are slight slopes along the path at these points.
  • The path crosses Alfred Street, which has dropped kerbs without tactile paving.
  • Caution is advised when crossing due to oncoming traffic.
  • At the bottom of Grosvenor Road the path bears left onto Queens Road.

Queens Road to Witton Lane

  • After the path bears left onto Queens Road, follow it for approximately 340m until it reaches Witton Lane.
  • There is step-free access along the path.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The first section of the route passes through a residential parking area before rejoining the main Queens Road.
  • There is a path through the parking area.
  • Some of the path may be restricted by parked cars.
  • The path crosses Church Lane.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs without tactile paving on either side.
  • Caution is advised when crossing.
  • When the path passes beneath the Aston Expressway it becomes Witton Lane from Queens Road.

Witton Lane - Outer Concourse

  • After the path becomes Witton Lane, follow it for approximately 200m until it reaches the outer concourse section of Witton Lane.
  • There is step-free access along the path.
  • The surface of the path is tarmac.
  • The path crosses the access road to Aston Hall and Park.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs without tactile paving on either side.
  • Caution is advised when crossing.
  • As you near Villa Park, there is a large information post with a map of the stadium and walkways around the stadium.
  • On matchdays before and after kick-off, Witton Lane forms part of the traffic exclusion zone.
