Route Information

Barnsley Interchange to Eldon Street North
- Exit Barnsley Interchange onto Schwäbisch Gmünd Way.
- Turn left and proceed along the footpath.
- The surface of the footpath is tarmac.
- After approximately 74m cross over the Interchange car park access road.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at the crossing point.
- Continue along Schwäbisch Gmünd Way for approximately 111m to Eldon Street North.
- There is a slight downhill gradient along this section of the route.
- The footpath is over 150cm wide.
Cross Schwäbisch Gmünd Way and Eldon Street North
- At the junction of Schwäbisch Gmünd Way and Eldon Street North there are pedestrian controlled crossings.
- Turn right and cross Schwäbisch Gmünd Way.
- The crossing point has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
- The height of the crossing control button is 115cm.
- There is no audible signal.
- The crossing button does not have cones.
- The surface of the crossing point is block paving.

- Bear slightly left and proceed to the pedestrian crossing over Eldon Street North.
- There is a slight downward slope leading to the crossing point.
- The crossing point has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
- The height to the crossing control button is 115cm.
- There is no audible signal.
- The crossing button does not have cones.
- The surface of the crossing point is block paved.
- There is a slight gradient from right to left at this crossing point.

Eldon Street North to Old Mill Lane
- Turn right and proceed along Eldon Street North for approximately 32m.
- There is a slight downwards gradient.
- The surface of the footpath is tarmac and is uneven in places.
- The footpath is over 150cm wide.
- Turn left onto Bridge Street.
- The surface of the footpath is tarmac and uneven in places.
- There is a slight uphill gradient to the bend in the road on Bridge Street.
- The gradient then levels out.
- There are some driveways with dropped kerbs along Bridge Street which create slight gradients, and there is a left to right camber on the footpath.
- Proceed along Bridge Street for approximately 169m to Old Mill Lane.
Old Mill Lane to Barnsley College, Old Mill Lane Campus
- Turn left onto Old Mill Lane.
- Proceed along Old Mill Lane for approximately 151m to County Road.
- The surface of the footpath is tarmac and uneven in places.
- The footpath is over 150cm wide.
- There is a slight uphill gradient.
- The gradient becomes steep after passing under the first railway bridge.
- The gradient becomes slight towards County Road.
- At County Road bear slightly left and use the crossing point to cross over County Road.
- There are no controls and the crossing point has an island.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at all parts of the crossing point.
- This crossing point is shown in photographs 18-22.
- Bear slightly right and continue along Old Mill Lane for approximately 27m.
- There is a designated crossing point to cross Old Mill Lane.
- There are no controls and the crossing point has an island.

- After crossing Old Mill Lane, turn right and proceed downhill.
