Introduction

Main Entrance Slope

  • There is a slope at the campus entrance.
  • Along the slope there is the main entrance to the William Harley Building to the right and the Britannia Building to the left. This slope has an easy gradient.
  • After 30m from the beginning of the slope there is a railing to the right of the slope.
  • To the left at this point there is the entrance into the Britannia Building.

Main Entrance Slope to George Moore Building Main Entrance

  • After reaching the top of the slope turn right and head towards the George Moore Building, a distance of 30m.
  • The surface of the pavement here is multi coloured block paving.
  • The surface here is uneven with an easy gradient as you head towards the entrance.

Outside Access (Main Entrance - Ground Floor)

    • This information is for the entrance located at the front left of the building giving ramped access to the ground floor.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 160cm (5ft 3in).
  • Second Set of Doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 159cm (5ft 3in).
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope at this entrance.
    • The ramp/slope is located immediately beyond the entrance.
    • The ramp/slope gradient is slight.

George Moore Building Entrance to Govan Mbeki Link

  • At the bottom of the entrance ramp turn left for 8m and then take the first right and head to the Ground Floor link to the Govan Mbeki Building.
  • There is a small ramp as you turn right into the corridor. This has an easy gradient and a width of 148cm.
  • Continue straight along the corridor to reach the link into the building a distance of approximately 12m.
  • The flooring along the corridor is shiny and can therefore give the impression of being slippery.

Entrance (George Moore Building Ground Floor Link Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located to the right of the George Moore Building on the ground floor.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) away from you (push).
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The door(s) may be difficult to open.
    • The width of the door opening is 164cm (5ft 5in).
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope at this entrance.
    • The ramp/slope is located immediately beyond the entrance.
    • The ramp/slope gradient is slight.
    • The ramp/slope is permanent.
    • The ramp does have handrails.
    • The handrails are on both sides going up.
    • The width of the ramp is 140cm.

    • This entrance is located inside the George Moore Building, near to the main entrance on the ground floor.

Access to Deeprose Lecture Theatre (A005)

  • At the bottom of the entrance ramp turn right to the slope to the front of the Deeprose Lecture Theatre (A005).
  • In front of you is another entrance into the Deeprose Lecture Theatre (A005).
  • To access the designated seating to the rear of the lecture Theatre however you will need to head along the corridor to your left.
  • The surface of the floor is carpet.
  • There is a permanently held open single door and extension leaf in the corridor with a width of 122cm.
  • The corridor leads into the Govan Mbeki Fairtrade Café. To the right of the service counter lies the entrance leading to the designated seating at the back of the lecture theatre.
