Introduction

  • Comments View
    • Access to the gates is from the rear of the Departure Lounge.
    • Step free access is available to Gates 3, 7 and 8.
    • Other gates can be accessed externally via the apron or access road walkways from Gates 3, 7 and 8 as directed and accompanied by airport staff only.
    • This also applies for arrivals so as to provide step free access to the Terminal.

Outside Access (Departure Gates Entrances)

  • This information is for the entrance located at the rear of the Departure Lounge.
  • There is level access into the venue.
  • The main door(s) open(s) away from you (push).
  • The door(s) is / are double.
  • The door(s) is / are heavy.
  • The width of the door opening is 146cm (4ft 9in).
  • Comments View
    • The doors are permanently held open when in use.
    • There are 2 similar entrances, one for Gate 1 only and one for Gates 2-8.

Passenger Assistance Area

  • There is a Main Passenger Assistance Area immediately before the entrances leading out to the Gates.
  • There are no doors to access to this area.
  • There is sufficient space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre.
  • There are chairs available.
  • The chairs have one armrest, some on the left and some on the right.

Gate 1

  • There is stepped access only to Gate 1.
  • It is approximately 50 metres from the Gate 1 entrance to the steps.
  • There are 15+ medium height steps.
  • Only the first step is clearly marked.
  • The steps have handrails on both sides.
  • Lighting levels are medium.
  • It is approximately 30 metres from the top of the stairs to the apron boarding area.
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • There is seating without armrests at the foot of the stairs.
  • Passengers requiring Passenger Assistance will be taken via an alternative route by staff.

Gate 2

  • There is stepped access to Gate 2.
  • It is approximately 60 metres from the Gates 2-8 entrance to the steps.
  • There are 15+ medium height steps.
  • The steps are clearly marked.
  • The steps have handrails on both sides.
  • Lighting levels are medium.
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • Alternative access to Gate 2 is via Gate 3 and the external access road to the apron.
  • There is an easy slope on the access road (shown in photograph 6).
  • Passengers requiring Passenger Assistance will be taken via an alternative route by staff.

Gate 3

  • There is stepped or lift access to Gate 3.
  • There is also an easy slope in the corridor leading to the Gate 3 stairs.
  • The slope is approximately 12 metres from the Gates 2-8 entrance.
  • The slope is 22 metres long and leads to the foot of the Gate 3 stairs.
  • There are 14 medium height steps.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • A platform lift is available to overcome the steps.
  • The lift is located on the left hand side of the stairs.
  • The dimensions of the platform lift are 78cm x 96cm.
  • A member of staff always provides assistance in using the lift.
  • Lighting levels are medium.
  • There is an easy slope in the doorway leading out to the walkway to the boarding area.
  • It is approximately 60 metres from the stairs to the apron boarding area.
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.

Gate 4

  • Gate 4 is accessed from the top of the Gate 3 stairs.
  • There is stepped access to Gate 4 from Gate 3 (internally).
  • There are 14 medium height steps leading to Gate 4, 7 going up and 7 going down.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on the right going up and, on both sides, going down.
  • Lighting levels are medium.
  • Alternative access is via the Gate 3 exit and the external access road.
  • The access road has an easy slope (photograph 4).
  • It is approximately 150 metres from Gate 3 to the Gate 4 apron boarding area using the external route.
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • Passengers requiring Passenger Assistance will be taken via an alternative route by staff.

Gate 5

  • There is stepped access to Gate 5.
  • It is approximately 75 metres from the Gates 2-8 entrance to the steps.
  • There is also an easy slope in the corridor leading to Gate 5.
  • The slope is 22 metres long.
  • There is an Accessible Toilet close to Gate 5.
  • There are 15+ medium height steps to access Gate 5.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Lighting levels are bright.
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • Passengers requiring Passenger Assistance will be taken via an alternative route by staff.

Gate 6

  • Gate 6 is accessed from the top of the Gate 5 stairs.
  • There is stepped access to Gate 6 from Gate 5 (internally).
  • There are 12 medium height steps leading to Gate 6, 6 steps going up and 6 going down.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Lighting levels are medium.
  • Alternative access is via the Gate 3 exit and the external access road.
  • The access road has an easy slope (photograph 4).
  • It is approximately 150 metres from Gate 3 to the Gate 6 apron boarding area using the external route.
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • Passengers requiring Passenger Assistance will be taken via an alternative route by staff.

Gate 7

  • There is ramped access to Gate 7.
  • It is approximately 130 metres from the Gates 2-8 entrance to Gate 7.
  • There are 2 easy slopes in the corridors leading to Gate 7.
  • There is an Accessible Toilet enroute to Gate 7.
  • Lighting levels are varied.
  • There is a self-scan boarding card reader on the way to the gate. The reader is 113cm high (photograph 6).
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • There is an easy slope immediately beyond the exit leading out to the apron boarding area.
  • It is possible to access other gates externally from Gate 7 using the marked walkways as directed by staff only.

Gate 8

  • There is ramped access to Gate 8, which is adjacent to Gate 7.
  • It is approximately 130 metres from the Gates 2-8 entrance to Gate 8.
  • There are 2 easy slopes in the corridors leading to Gate 8.
  • There is an Accessible Toilet enroute to Gate 8.
  • Lighting levels are varied.
  • There is a self-scan boarding card reader on the way to the gate. The reader is 113cm high (photograph 6).
  • All doors enroute are held open during boarding times.
  • It is possible to access other gates externally from Gate 8 using the marked walkways as directed by staff only.
  • There is an assistance help point phone to the left as you enter Gate 8.
  • The phone is 93cm high and just needs to be lifted to call for help.

Level Change (AViRAMP Step Free Boarding)

  • There is a ramp/slope to access this area/service.
  • The ramp/slope is permanent.
  • There is not a level landing at the top of the ramp/slope.
  • The ramp does have handrails.
  • The handrails are on both sides.
  • The width of the ramp/slope is 80cm (2ft 7in).
