2020 Changes

  • AccessAble are aware that there have been changes to this Access Guide due to a refurbishment. We will revisit and update the information and photos as soon as possible.

Planning your trip

  • Before you arrive in the Bailiwick you will need to create a Travel Tracker account and register your journey, providing your travel plans and recent travel history.
  • A journey cannot be registered until two calendar days before you are due to arrive in the Bailiwick. If you are unable to register on the Travel Tracker in advance this can be done on arrival using special kiosk terminals, however this will make the processing time longer. Assistance can be given by the Ports customer care team if necessary.

Arrival into Guernsey

  • Arrival into Guernsey
  • Passengers travelling to Guernsey are required to declare their travel history as various restrictions have been imposed for travellers depending on where they have travelled. Countries and regions are classified into four groups, Categories 1-4.
  • Social distancing measures are in operation for the harbour testing centres.
  • Please follow the directions of staff. Seating is available in the queuing areas if passengers are unable to stand for a prolonged period whilst waiting to be processed.
  • Self-testing rooms
  • A member of staff will guide you to the next available self-testing room at the harbour or airport.
  • The self-testing rooms contain a desk, chair, mirror and a kiosk terminal. They also contain hand sanitiser, paper towels and a waste bin.
  • You will be handed a self-testing kit and instruction are aviable in the testing room but if there are any difficulties please ask a member of staff for assistance.
  • The self-testing rooms also have a degree of privacy and several are designed for full manoeuvrability for wheelchair users or those requiring extra space or families or carers.
  • In all circumstances, children under 12 are not required to undertake a self-sample COVID-19 swab on arrival.
  • Before you exit the testing area, you will be required to hand in a signed copy of a form acknowledging the self-isolation requirements. You will be provided with a receipt from Guernsey Border Agency staff who will confirm when your self-isolation period ends.
  • After testing
  • Please keep your mask on at all times until you reach your final destination in the Bailiwick. You only need to remove it when asked to take a supervised ‘self-swab’ test.
  • Please book a hire car prior to your arrival and follow the company’s instructions.
  • Please note that public buses in Guernsey cannot be used as a means of transport to your self-isolation address.
  • Please book a Taxi in advance whenever possible, especially if you require a wheelchair accessible taxi, to ensure you do not queue. There are a limited number of taxis, especially doing the harbour run. Please follow the drivers’ instructions.
  • You can ask a friend or relative to pick you up. The passenger must sit on the back seat, wear a mask, the windows should be down. The driver should wipe down any surfaces that have been touched, such as the door handles, afterwards.
