Introduction

  • The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) is a registered charity that owns and operates Lord Nelson and Tenacious. These are the only two tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side-by-side as equals. .
  • Tall ship sailing holidays with the JST provide everyone the thrill and adventure of life at sea and you can be involved in almost every activity on board. Take the helm, set the sails and keep watch, all regardless of your physical ability and previous sailing knowledge.
  • The trust offer extra bursary funding and fundraising advice for those individuals who might struggle to afford the full voyage cost. .
  • Voyage crew members are put into one of four teams, called Watches, that take it in turns to be responsible for various tasks on board including keeping watch, even at night. Each watch includes an experienced watch leader who will work with people and be their link with the permanent crew. Between them, they ensure that people are given tasks that suit their individual strengths and that they have the information necessary to fulfil them whether it is handling the sails or galley duty.
  • On board ship an individual may be assigned a 'buddy'. A buddy is another crew member who will be their companion on the voyage, and together they will discover how to sail the ship. .
