Introduction

Broadcasting Place to the Old Broadcasting House Accessible Entrance

  • Leave Broadcasting Place by heading towards the Broadcasting Place Car Park.
  • The surface of Broadcasting Place is brick block paving.
  • There is a slight uphill gradient on leaving Broadcasting Place.
  • This part of the journey can be seen in photographs 1 & 2.
  • On reaching the car park the turn right and after approximately 16m you will find the accessible entrance into Old Broadcasting House.
  • This part of the journey can be seen in photographs 3 & 4.

Old Broadcasting House Accessible Entrance to Woodhouse Lane

  • From the accessible entrance continue head towards Woodhouse Lane. The distance to which is approximately 45m.
  • The surface of Broadcasting Place is brick block paving.
  • There is a slight downhill gradient onto Woodhouse Lane.
  • You will be exiting the vehicle entrance in the car park so approach with caution.
  • The surface of Woodhouse Lane is pavement.

Woodhouse Lane to Woodhouse Lane Crossing

  • Turn left up Woodhouse Lane for approximately 140m until you reach the pedestrian crossing.
  • The surface of the pavement is tarmac.
  • There is a slight uphill gradient.
  • Continue along the road as you reach a bridge. The width of the pavement will shrink slightly due to the presence of a cycle path. The width of the road is still over 150cm at this point.
  • As you approach the pedestrian crossing there is a small patch of brick block paving.

Woodhouse Lane Crossing

  • Use the pedestrian crossing to cross Woodhouse Lane.
  • There is tactile paving on either side of the road as well as on either side of the central island in the middle of the road.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.
  • Traffic will be coming from your right as you approach the central island.
  • The surface of the central island is block paving.
  • Traffic approaches from the left between the central island and far side of the road.
  • The traffic lights do have rotating cones.
  • The height of the controls is 112cm.

Woodhouse Lane to Portland Way

  • After reaching the other side of Woodhouse Lane, turn left for approximately 20m to reach Portland Way.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • There is a downhill gradient.
  • After this, turn right down Portland Way and continue for 60m until you reach the pedestrian crossing across Portland Way in front of the Portland Building. As you turn right you will encounter a section of tactile paving for a pedestrian crossing which you will need to overcome, followed by a bus stop.
  • This is located in front of the Woodhouse Building City Bar entrance.
  • After which head down Portland Way for approximately 60m until you reach the next pedestrian crossing.
  • Around 40m down Portland Way is a cobbled service road surface cobbled with drop kerbs either side.

Portland Way Crossing

  • Turn right when you reach Portland Road and use the pedestrian crossing to reach the other side.
  • There is tactile paving on either side of the road.
  • There are traffic lights at a height of 110cm.
  • There are rotating cones here.

Portland Way to The Rose Bowl Rear Entrance

  • After crossing Portland Way head straight on for 41m until you reach the rear entrance for The Rose Bowl.
  • For approximately 16m the surface of the pavement is brick block pavement. After this the surface is block paving.
  • There are bollards between Portland Way and the entrance with a width of 136cm.
  • There is a slight downhill gradient.

Outside Access (Rear Entrance)
