  • The route takes approximately 11-13 minutes.
  • The route leads along a section of Anfield Road which forms part of the traffic exclusion zone.
  • The traffic exclusion zone is in place from 1.5 hours before kick-off
  • The pavements along the route have tarmac, concrete and flagstone paving surfaces.
  • Walton Breck Road (which can be used by pedestrians during the traffic exclusion period) has a tarmac surface.
  • The potential hazards on this route include; traffic, road crossings, posts, kerbs, uneven paving, bollards and congested pathways.

Soccer Bus Stop (Walton Lane/Anfield Road)

  • This bus stop is located on Walton Lane, close to the junction with Anfield Road (where the traffic exclusion zone starts).
  • There is step-free access to the bus shelter.
  • There is bench seating within the bus shelter.
  • There is not a digital display at this bus stop.
  • There is no audio announcer at this bus stop.

Soccer Bus Stop to Anfield Road

  • When exiting the bus turn right and follow Walton Lane for approximately 70m until you reach the lights at the junction with Anfield Road.
  • The surface of the path on this part of the route is split between flagstone paving on the left and tarmac on the right.
  • The surface turns to solely flagstone paving at the traffic lights
  • The flagstone paving can be slightly uneven in places.
  • Follow the path as it bends around to the left over some strips of tactile paving onto Anfield Road.

Anfield Road Crossing

  • After reaching Anfield Road turn right at the traffic lights.
  • Use the crossing to get to the opposite side of Anfield Road.
  • This crossing point consists of two road crossings.
  • At the first crossing point traffic is coming from your right.
  • At the second crossing point traffic is coming from your left.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at each side of the road.
  • The central island is indicated by strips of tactile paving on either side.
  • Each crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
  • The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
  • The push buttons are at a height of approximately 102cm.
  • There are rotating cones located at the base of the push button boxes to indicate when it is safe to cross.
  • After completing the second crossing turn left and follow the Anfield Road path.

Anfield Road Crossing to Sleepers Hill

  • Proceed along Anfield Road pathway for approximately 60 metres until you reach the junction with Sleepers Hill.
  • On this section of the route the path has a flagstone paving surface which is slightly uneven in places.
  • There are also some posts in the path.
  • The path slopes slightly uphill.

Sleepers Hill - Anfield Road to Butterfield Street

  • As you follow the path around to the right into Sleepers Hill the surface varies between concrete, tarmac and flagstone paving.
  • The surface of the path can be very uneven in places.
  • The path slopes gradually uphill.
  • After approximately 40 metres cross Bodley Street.
  • There is no marked crossing here and traffic can come in either direction.
  • The kerbs are approximately 5cm in height on both sides of the road.
  • There is no tactile paving at the kerbs.
  • Continue along the flagstone path for approximately 30 metres and you will reach another side road called Butterfield Street.
  • Cross Butterfield Street.
  • There is no marked crossing here and traffic can come in either direction.
  • The kerbs are approximately 8cm in height on the near side and 5cm on the opposite side of the road.
  • There is no tactile paving at the kerbs.

Sleepers Hill - Butterfield Street to Walton Breck Road

  • After crossing Butterfield Street continue along the path for approximately 30 metres until you reach another side road called Goldie Street.
  • The path continues to have a flagstone paving surface and slopes gradually uphill.
  • The path can be slightly uneven in places and there are some posts along the route.
  • Cross Goldie Street.
  • There is no marked crossing here and traffic can come in either direction.
  • The kerbs are approximately 5cm in height on both sides of the road.
  • There is no tactile paving at the kerbs.
  • Continue along the flagstone path for approximately 50 metres and you will reach Paley Close.
  • Cross Paley Close.
  • There is no marked crossing here and traffic can come in either direction.
  • The kerbs are approximately 10-12cm in height on both sides of the road.
  • There is no tactile paving at the kerbs.
  • At the far side continue along the Sleepers Hill path for approximately 45 metres until you reach the crossing at the junction with Walton Breck Road.
  • Turn left to cross Sleepers Hill.

Sleepers Hill Crossing

  • Use this crossing point to get to the opposite side of Sleepers Hill.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at each side of the road.
  • The crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
  • The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
  • The push buttons are at a height of approximately 112cm.
  • There are rotating cones located at the base of the push button boxes to indicate when it is safe to cross.
  • After completing the crossing continue over the tactile paving and bear right along the Walton Breck Road path until you reach the start of the traffic exclusion zone.

Walton Breck Road to the Outer Concourse/Walkway (Paisley Square)

  • Once inside the traffic exclusion zone it may be easier to use the road which has a smoother tarmac surface.
  • There is a dropped kerb with tactile paving giving access to the road at the start of the traffic exclusion zone.
  • Continue along Walton Breck Road for approximately 400 metres until you reach the Anfield Stadium outer concourse on your left hand side just past Gilman Street.
  • On the far side of Gilman Street there is a dropped kerb with tactile paving where matchday stewards are located.
  • Join the pavement and turn left past the stewards and pass through the bollards to join Paisley Square.
  • The gap between bollards is approximately 120cm.
  • The height of the bollards is 100cm.
  • The bollards do not have a good colour contrast with the background but do have a red contrasting strip at the top.
