COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in November 2020.
  • There have been no changes to the parking.
  • The main terminal can now only be accessed through the left hand door, (when facing the terminal from the DLR corridor). The middle door is the exit and the right hand door is closed.
  • All customers are now required to enter the main building via a sectioned area in the pre-existing corridor to undergo a temperature testing process via a remote camera.
  • Only customers and staff are allowed to enter the terminal. Therefore 'Track and Trace' is in operation.
  • Automated hand sanitising stations are located across the airport.
  • The Check-in area has a designated exit point.
  • Signage is in place at Check-in, Security and at the Departure Gates.
  • Protective screens have been installed at all Check-in desks, Customer Service desks, Security areas and Departure Gate desks.
  • Urinals and hand washing facilities have restricted access to enable spacing for social distancing.
  • Face masks are mandatory for anyone entering the airport terminal. Other than legal exceptions.
  • The airport has achieved an Airport Health Accreditation award from the Airports Council International, as a COVID secure environment.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact from the information desk in the main concourse or by contacting any of the PRM (Special Assistance) staff.
  • Passengers requiring assistance will be taken to aircraft using lifts to access the apron, buses to access the far gates, and stair climbers to access the aircraft. Passengers requiring assisted access are collected from the Priority Seating in the Departures Lounge by PRM staff. There are also wheelchairs available to help PRM staff assist passengers.

Access from Tarmac to Arrivals Corridor

  • There are single width automatic doors leading from the Tarmac to the Arrivals Corridor.
  • There is stepped access.
  • This can be overcome by using the entrance directly into the Domestic Baggage Reclaim, a member of the PRM Staff will provide assistance.

Inside Access

  • The corridor leading from Gates 21-24 leads to a staircase, up to a bridge over a service road to baggage reclaim.
  • Assisted passengers are taken through a door just past the stairs, and accompanied across the service road.
  • This route can only be used by assisted passengers.
  • There are some stool type seats without armrests along this corridor.

Accessible Toilet(s) (Arrivals Corridor)

  • There is an/are accessible toilet(s) for public use.
  • This accessible toilet is located at the rear of the Arrivals Corridor, next to Gate 24.
  • There is step-free access to the accessible toilet.
  • This is a shared toilet.
  • A key is required for the accessible toilet.
  • The key is a radar key.
  • The key can be obtained from a member of the PRM staff.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the toilet door.
  • The door opens outwards.
  • The door is light.
  • The door is locked by a locking handle.
  • The width of the accessible toilet door is 87cm (2ft 10in).
  • The dimensions of the accessible toilet are 158cm x 223cm (5ft 2in x 7ft 4in).
  • The accessible toilet does have an unobstructed minimum turning space of 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space.
  • As you face the toilet pan the transfer space is on the left.
  • The lateral transfer space is 87cm (2ft 10in).
  • There is a flush, however it is not on the transfer side.
  • There is not a spatula type lever flush.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • There is an emergency alarm.
  • The emergency pull cord alarm is not fully functional.
  • The emergency pull cord alarm was out of reach (higher than 10cm (4") from floor) when surveyed.
  • Disposal facilities are not available in the toilet.
  • There is a/are coat hook(s).
  • There is a/are wall-mounted grab rail(s) available.
  • As you face the toilet the wall-mounted grab rail(s) is/are on both sides.
  • There is a vertical wall-mounted grab rail on the transfer side.
  • There is a horizontal wall-mounted grab rail on the opposite side of the seat to the transfer space.
  • There is a mirror.
  • The mirror is placed at a lower level or at an angle for ease of use.
  • There is not a shelf next to the toilet.
  • The toilet has a backrest.
  • The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm (1ft 7in).
  • There is a toilet roll holder.
  • The toilet roll holder can be reached from seated on the toilet.
  • The toilet roll holder is not placed higher than 100cm (3ft 3in).
  • There is a wash basin.
  • The wash basin can be reached from seated on the toilet.
  • The wash basin is not placed higher than 74cm (2ft 5in).
  • There are vertical wall-mounted grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever.

  • Taps have clear markings to indicate hot and cold settings.
  • There is a soap dispenser.
  • The soap dispenser can be reached from seated on the toilet.
  • The towel dispenser cannot be reached from seated on the toilet.

  • The hand dryer is not placed higher than 100cm (3ft 3in).
  • The contrast between the external door and wall is good.
  • The contrast between the internal door and wall is good.
  • The contrast between the dropdown rail(s) and wall is good.
  • The contrast between the wall-mounted grab rail(s) and wall is good.
  • The toilet seat colour contrast is poor.
  • The contrast between the walls and floor is good.
  • The lighting levels are good.

Bridge

  • This bridge takes passengers over the service road to access baggage reclaim.
  • The stairs down are 35 metres from the stairs up.
