Summary
- The approximate distance of the route from Keppel Street to 20 Bloomsbury Square via 8 & 9 Bedford Square is 600M. The entrances to 20 Bloomsbury Square and 8 & 9 Bedford Square are both via steps.
Keppel Street
- On exiting the Keppel Street building turn left and head along Keppel Street to the end of the road where it joins Malet Street.
- The surface of the block paving is uneven.
- Turn right and cross Keppel Street and continue on Malet Street.
- There is a tactile dropped kerb across Keppel Street (photograph 3).
Malet Street
- Continue ahead on Malet Street.
- The surface of the block paving is uneven.
- There is a cobbled service road with dropped kerbs either side (photograph 2).
- Continue until you reach the crossing over Montague Place.
Montague Place - 8 & 9 Bedford Square - Montague Place
- Cross Montague Place, then turn right and continue along Montague Place.
- The crossing has dropped kerbs but no tactile paving (photograph 1 & 2)
- The surface of the block paving is uneven.
- At the end of Montague Place turn left on to Bedford Square.
- At the corner of Montague Place and Bedford Square there is a crossing with tactile paving and slopes on the pathway. (photograph 4)
- Continue on Bedford Square, approximately 50m along Bedford Square, 8 & 9 Bedford Square are located on the left. (photograph 5)
- The surface of the block paving is uneven.
- Turn back on Bedford Square and continue, turning right on to Montague Place and go straight ahead to the end of Montague Place before turning right on to Russell Square.
- The surface of the block paving is uneven, with areas of tarmac or concrete where service roads cross the pathway to the British Museum located on the right.
Russel Square - Montague Street
- Continue on Russell Square which merges into Montague Street (photograph 1 & 2)
- The surface of the block paving is uneven. There are areas of tactile paving that stretch across the pathway.
- Take the Pelican crossing to the opposite side of Montague Street turning right and continuing ahead.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides of the Pelican crossing. (photograph 6, 7 & 8)
- There is an access road that crosses the pathway, it has dropped kerbs but no tactile paving.
- At the end of the Montague Street turn left on to Bloomsbury Square.
- There is an area of tactile paving at the corner of Montague Street and Bloomsbury Square. (photograph 11).
Great Russell Street - Bloomsbury Square
- Continue ahead on Bloomsbury Square. 20 Bloomsbury Square is located on the left and is accessed via steps.
- The surface of the block paving is uneven.
