Newnham College is the lively and sociable women’s College located by the University’s Sidgwick site and University Library, and about 10 minutes from the historic centre of Cambridge. The College has a mixture of beautiful historic and contemporary buildings, set in 18 acres of stunning gardens and with a popular café, The Iris Café.
The College aims to support and empower women to develop world-class knowledge and skills, embrace challenge, and make friends for life. It is a welcoming and dynamic community of outstanding academics and students that cover a huge range of subjects, including engineers, classicists, astrophysicists, historians, sociologists and geographers and many more. Some well-known former students include actors Emma Thompson and Miriam Margolyes, politicians Diane Abbott and Rupa Huq, and scientists Rosalind Franklin and Dorothy Hodgkin, who won a Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Newnham welcomes disabled students, staff and visitors to study, work and visit, and is committed to removing barriers to education, training and employment for all. If you are a prospective student and would like to discuss access issues, please contact the Admissions Office ([email protected]).
Newnham also offers facilities for a range of events, from academic conferences to stunning weddings. If you are organising or attending an event or staying as a guest at Newnham, please contact the Conference Office ([email protected]) for more information.
We look forward to welcoming you to Newnham.
