Introduction
- The following information describes the route from the Design Building (CCE2) to Baltic 39.
- The approximate distance of this route is 965m.
- The route takes approximately 12 minutes.
- The route leads along New Bridge Street, along Minden Street, across the A167(M), along Market Street, along Pilgrim Street and onto High Bridge.
- The majority of paths along the route are tarmac with some easy and moderate gradients in places.
- There is some street signage located along the route directing you to Baltic 39.
- There is campus parking at City Campus East and some on street and public car parking on High Bridge.
- The potential hazards on this route include; busy roads, crossing points, and congested pathways.
- The visual indicators at the crossing points are activated by push buttons. These are between the heights of 110cm and 120cm.
Design Building (CCE2)
- There is step free access to the Design Building (CCE2).
- Accessible toilets are available throughout the Design Building (CCE2).
- There is step free access throughout the Design Building (CCE2).
- Car parking facilities are available throughout City Campus East.

Design Building (CCE2) to Market Street
- On exiting the Design Building (CCE2) turn left and head through the quad to the New Bridge Street entrance to the City Campus East.
- The surface of the quad is block paved.
- There is an easy gradient uphill as you exit the campus onto New Bridge Street.
- As you exit the campus onto New Bridge Street there is a pedestrian crossing to the right of you.
- This crossing point consists of three road crossings.
- At the first crossing point traffic is coming from your right.
- At the second crossing point traffic is coming from your right.
- There is an island in the centre of New Bridge Street with barriers joining the second and third crossing points.
- At the third crossing point traffic is coming from your left.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at each crossing point.
- The surface of each crossing point is concrete tiles.
- Each crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
- The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
- There is step free access along this part of the route.
- After completing the third crossing point turn right and follow New Bridge Street.
- There is an easy downhill gradient along this part of the route.
- The surface of the route is paving slabs.
- After approximately 10m, cross a small side turning on to Minden Street.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at this crossing point.
- There are no pedestrian crossing signals at this crossing point.
- Caution is advised when crossing because of traffic.
- The traffic is moving from both directions.
- Continue for approximately 74m to the end of Minden Street.
- The surface of the path is paving slabs.
- Some of the path is uneven.
- After 74m the road ends and the path joins a footbridge across the A167(M) and its slip roads.
- The bridge is shared with cycles.
- The bridge is on a moderate gradient.
- There are handrails on both sides of the bridge.
- Towards the end of the bridge take the first exit to the right.
- There is a moderate gradient downhill.
- The slope leads to Market Street.
Market Street to High Bridge
- After exiting the bridge onto Market Street continue straight ahead.
- Follow Market Street for approximately 20m.
- After approximately 20m Market Street crosses the exit slip road from the A167(M).
- There is no designated crossing point.
- Caution is advised when crossing because of traffic.
- The traffic is coming from your left.
- There is step free access along this part of the route.
- Continue along Market Street for approximately 265m to the junction with Pilgrim Street.
- After approximately 73m Market Street crosses Croft Street.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at this crossing point.
- There are no pedestrian crossing signals at this crossing point.
- Caution is advised when crossing because of traffic.
- The traffic is moving from both directions.
- After approximately 38m Market Street crosses Carliol Street.
- The crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
- The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at this crossing point.
- After approximately 73m Market Street crosses Croft Street.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at this crossing point.
- There are no pedestrian crossing signals at this crossing point.

- The traffic is moving from both directions.
- After approximately 145m Market Street crosses Pilgrim Street.
- The crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
- The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.

- There is step free access along this part of the route.

- After completing the crossing turn left and follow Pilgrim Street.
- After approximately 43m Pilgrim Street crosses Shakespeare Street.

- The road can be used if the path is too narrow.
- After approximately 85m High Bridge crosses Grey Street.
