About Swansea Bay University Health Board

ASwansea Bay University Health Board is responsible for improving the health of the 500,000 people living in the communities of Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot and Bridgend.

We commission, plan and provide primary care (General Practitioner (G.P.), Opticians, Pharmacy and Dental services), community based services and hospital services. We also provide Mental Health services and Learning Disability services (for Swansea, Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil) and very specialist services, such as Burns and Plastic Surgery (for South Wales and the South West of England) and Forensic Mental Health Services (for South Wales).

The Health Board has an annual budget of £1 billion. We employ over 15,000 staff. 70% of our staff are involved with direct patient care.
