Route Information

  • This route goes from Port Soif to the Loop-Holed Tower at Rousse Headland.
  • The majority of the route is on surfaced paths.
  • The route will take approximately 1 hour.
  • This route is not a loop so you may need to retrace the route to return to the car parking at Port Soif.
  • There is car parking available at Port Soif, Portinfer, along Route de Pulias and Route du Port Grat and at Rousse Headland. These can be used as pickup and drop off points.
  • Alternatively there are bus stops near Port Soif and on Route du Port Grat, near to Rousse Headland.
  • There are a number of additional car parks located along the route, which can be used to make the walk more manageable for people with limited mobility.
  • There are public toilets located at Port Soif and at Rousse Headland. These may only be open during peak season.

Port Soif to Port Soif Common

  • This section of the walk is approximately 351m.
  • The walk begins at Port Soif.
  • There is a car park located off Portinfer Road.
  • The car park has a tarmac surface.
  • The route from the car park has a compacted earth surface.
  • The path is uneven in places.
  • The parking overlooks the bay to Portinfer.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes along the route.
  • Follow the path along the coast and around the coastal side of Port Soif Common.
  • The Port Soif nature trail is on the opposite side of Portinfer Road from the route.
  • There is Port Soif kiosk and public toilets in the car park.

Port Soif Common to Portinfer

  • This section of the walk is approximately 300m.
  • The path is compact earth.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes along the path.
  • Follow the path along the coast overlooking the beach and the bay.
  • This section of the route ends at the car park at Portinfer.
  • The surface of the car park is loose gravel.

Portinfer to Pulias Pond

  • This section of the walk is approximately 1km.
  • The path is compacted earth.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes along the path.
  • This section of the route starts at the car park at Portinfer.
  • The surface of the car park is loose gravel.
  • This section of the route passes around the Portinfer Headland, and crosses in front of the Guernsey Clay Target Shooting Club range.
  • The range is in operation on Saturdays from February to October 09:30 - 12:00.
  • The range is in operation on Sundays 09:00 - 12:30 all year round.
  • When the range is in operation cross the car park and follow the access road to the opposite side of the headland.
  • The path joins the car park access road and follows the road to Côbo Bay West Coast / Portinfer Road.
  • There is no footpath along the access road.
  • At Portinfer Road the route runs along the footpath beside the road.
  • The surface of the footpath is compacted gravel.
  • Follow the road and path until the path diverges to the left from the road.
  • This section of the route ends at the car park at Pulias Pond.
  • The surface of the car park is loose gravel.
  • There is an additional car park at the top of the headland which overlooks the bay to Portinfer.

Pulias Pond to Rousse Headland

  • This section of the walk is approximately 1.5km.
  • The majority of the path is compacted earth.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes along the path.
  • This section of the route starts at the car park at Pulias Pond.
  • The surface of the car park is loose gravel.
  • There are additional car parks along this section of the route.
  • The route follows the coast to the first additional car park.
  • Follow the car park access road to Route du Port Grat.
  • The route crosses the road at Route du Port Grat for one block and then crosses back following the footpath.
  • The surface of the footpath is tarmac.
  • There are not designated crossing points on Route du Port Grat.
  • The route leaves the footpath and follows a compact earth path around the coast.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes along this section of the route.
  • The route leads onto the Rousse Headland and leads to the Loop-Holed tower.
  • Beyond the Loop-Holed tower the path leads to the car park, Rousse Kiosk and Rousse public toilets.
  • The surface of the car park is loose gravel.
  • There is an additional gravel car park at the opposite side of the headland.
