About Lancaster University

Welcome to the Lancaster University disability access guide.

Lancaster University is one of the top 10 universities in the UK and has a world-wide reputation as a centre for research and teaching excellence, as well as high levels of student satisfaction. The University has invested heavily in its campus, including in accessibility and disability support.

Lancaster has been developing services for students with disabilities for more than 20 years and aims to help all prospective and current students fulfil their potential and make the most of their time at University.

Its Disability Service team provides information and advice on:

  • Planning for university life and study
  • Disability Policy
  • Dyslexia tuition and study support
  • Accessibility issues
  • Disabled student allowances and other funding
  • Adapted exams
  • Study aids and strategies assessments

The team works alongside disabled students from the first enquiry or visit, right through to graduation. They also work with departments across the University to help staff consider accessibility issues.

Lancaster University has undertaken a significant construction project to remodel a major pathway (the Spine) through the centre of campus. In addition, work is also ongoing on a package of smaller accessibility improvements externally around the campus. If you would like to check any of this information in particular, you can do so directly with the University or alternatively check here for works updates on campus.
