Introduction

Turn right and continue for 15m and head to the Refectory Corridor Entrance

  • Turn right and head past the theatre.
  • The surface here is uneven block paving.
  • Just before the Refectory Corridor Entrance the surface becomes cobbled.
  • The entrance to the Refectory Corridor will be located to your left.
  • There is single door that opens automatically towards you with a width of 84cm. As can be seen in photograph 3.
  • There is a moderate ramp in front of the of the entrance. As can be seen in photograph 6.

Head Forward for 35m going through the Refectory Corridor and out the other side

  • Once inside the building head straight forward along the Refectory Corridor.
  • The floor surface is level.
  • At the other side of the corridor head through the door to exit the Refectory Corridor.
  • The door is automatic and opens away from you when leaving the building, with a width of 78cm. As shown in photograph 4.
  • Immediately upon exiting the building there is an easy slope downwards. As shown in photograph 5.

Head 50M across the L, J and N Courtyard then turn Right at the Service Road

  • The surface of the courtyard is block paving.
  • After approximately 25m the surface of the path becomes concrete for 25m.

Continue along path beside Service Road for 90m to Waldegrave Road

  • The surface of the pavement is concrete.
  • There is a side road across the pavement which has a dropped kerb after 30m (photograph 3).
  • There is an easy slope located next to L Building (photograph 4).
  • The surface of the pavement is uneven after the ramp.
  • Just before you reach Waldegrave Road there is a zebra crossing across the exit to the car park (photograph 6).

Cross the Waldegrave Road Service Road

  • On the far side of the zebra crossing there is a gate, 140cm wide, that leads out from the campus onto Waldgrave Road.
  • Once through the gate, turn left and cross the University service road. The service road is level with the main road and has a tarmac surface.

Head Down Waldegrave Road and continue for 200m until you reach Waldegrave Park

  • Head along Waldegrave Road the surface of the road is block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • There is a slight gradient towards the road.
  • Cars are permitted to park partially on the pavement here, reducing the width of the path to 140 cm in places (shown in photograph 2).
  • After approximately 75m there is a bus stop.
  • The bus stop serves route 33.
  • There is seating and a shelter here (photograph 4).
  • Continue onwards.
  • The surface is still block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • After about 20m from the bus stop there is a drive way as well as another further down the road (photographs 5 and 6).
  • Approximately 5m from Waldegrave Park there is a dropped kerb with tactile paving (photograph 7).

Cross Waldegrave Park

  • There are steep, concrete dropped kerbs on either side of the road.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.

Continue for 70m along Waldegrave Road

  • The surface of the pavement is block paving.
  • There is a signpost leaving a width of 116cm (photograph 2).
  • There is then a pedestrian crossing with tactile pavement across the entire pavement (photograph 3).
  • The pavement then becomes narrower due to driveways (photograph 4).

Continue for 260m along Waldegrave Road

  • There is a service road that has a dropped kerb and a cobbled surface (photograph 1).
  • The pavement then continues with an uneven block paved surface.
  • There is a section of concrete pavement in front of Waldegrave Motors (photograph 4).
  • There is then a driveway with a cobbled surface, which also has a tactile dropped kerb (photograph 5).
  • After 140m there is an area where the path is reduced in width due to a tree and the surface of the path becomes uneven tarmac (photograph 7).

Cross Teddington Park Road

  • There are tactile dropped kerbs on either side of the road.
  • The surface of the road is cobbled.

Continue for 90m along Waldegrave Road to Claremont Road

  • Once you have crossed Teddington Park Road continue along Waldegrave Road.
  • There is a tree restricting the width of the path to 80cm (photograph 2).
  • This is immediately followed by a lamppost which leaves a width of 90cm, then a concrete driveway.
  • There are a further two trees in the pavement that have uneven surfaces at their bases (photograph 4).
  • Continue for 60m to a bus stop which serves Route 33 (photograph 5).
  • Continue on to Claremont Road.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving with the occasional concrete driveway.

Cross Claremont Road

  • There are dropped kerbs on either side of the road.
  • The surface of the road is cobbled.

Head down Waldegrave Road for 50m to the crossing

  • Head along Waldegrave Road, the surface of which is block paving.
  • There are driveways which are slightly uneven.
  • There is a tree with uneven tarmac around its base, and an additional tree which reduces the width of the pavement to 94cm.
  • The pavement here is slightly sloped.

Cross Waldegrave Road

  • There are tactile dropped kerbs on either side of the road, as well as an island with tactile paving.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.
  • The road has an easy gradient.

Head left down Waldegrave Road and continue for 60m to the Naylor Library

  • Turn left down Waldegrave Road, the surface of which is block paving.
  • Continue until you reach the concrete kerbs that lead to the service road into the Naylor Library Car Park.
  • These are level with the road (photograph 2).
  • Turn right into the road.
  • Head across the road until you reach the slight easy slope to your left (photograph 3).
  • This route bypasses a tree with uneven roots located between the road and the easy slope directly in front of the entrance (photograph 4).
