Access Guide
Accessible Mini Bus and Ambulift
- Stansted Airport provide a range of accessible transport, including mini buses and Ambulift vehicles.
- An Ambulift is used to board and disembark passengers who need full assistance.
- The Ambulift can be used to collect passengers from the Departure Gate Piers or drop off at the arrivals entrance.
- Mini buses can used to transport passengers with mobility restrictions from the Departure Gate piers to aircraft or from the aircraft to the arrivals entrance.
- Passengers using the mini bus can board or disembark the aircraft using the Ambulift or the aircraft steps.
Access from Aircraft
- Access from the aircraft is either via steps or prearranged assistance.
- Prearranged assistance is provided by ISS and will take passengers direct to the terminal via accessible transport.
- There are 3 to 4 (dependent on gate) medium height, well marked steps with handrails on both sides leading from the aircraft.
- Passengers then access a set of double, manual doors.
- These doors are held open for passengers and are 150cm (4ft 11in) wide.
- There are then 15+ steps.
- There is a half landing halfway up the steps.
- There are handrails on both sides.
- At the top of the steps, passengers access a further set of double, manual doors.
- These doors are held open for passengers and are 150cm (4ft 11in) wide.
Gates 80-89 to the Footbridge
- The Arrivals route for Gates 80 to 89 to the footbridge passes through the Departure Gate Waiting Area.
- There is step free access through the waiting area.
- The surface of the flooring is vinyl.
- There is a cafe and toilets located in the waiting area.
- There is fixed seating available in the waiting area.
- Some of the seats have armrests available.
