Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slight slopes.
  • The University Dental Hospital of Manchester has three entrances which provide step-free access via slopes. The main and staff entrances have automatic doors.
    The entrance to the Manchester Dental Education Centre has a manual door.
  • The main (patient) entrance is signed with the building name and the other entrances are signed as Staff Entrance, and the Manchester Dental Education Centre.

Getting Around

  • There is step free level access on the ground floor.
  • On the second floor there is stepped/ramped access to the Child Dental Health. On the second floor there is one step in the corridor leading to the Filling Station, and a ramp on the corridor leading to the Multi-Faith and Prayer Room.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

  • There are 3 toilets with adaptations.
  • Toilets with adaptations are located on floors Ground, 2 and 4.
  • The transfer space varies between left and right in the toilets with adaptations.
  • The male and female toilet facilities are located on floors Ground, 1, 2, 3 and 4.
  • Parent and baby changing facilities are located in the ground floor female toilets and on the second floor.

Entrance (Main Patient Entrance)

  • This entrance is located on the front of the building, on Bridgeford Street.

  • The height of the lowered section is 73cm.
  • The reception has windows which may affect the ability of someone to lip read.
  • There is a clearly signed fixed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.

  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user.
