Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • UCL is based in the Bloomsbury area of central London. Most of the buildings are close to the Euston Road (A501) and are located within the Congestion Charge Zone.
    • There is on street parking available on some of the streets in and around the UCL area.
  • By Bus View
    • There are many bus routes that stop close to the University buildings. The following bus routes stop on Gower Street, outside the main gate:-
      10 (Hammersmith Bus Station to King's Cross Station)
      14 (Putney Heath to Warren Street Station)
      24 (Hampstead Heath to Pimlico)
      29 (Wood Green to Trafalgar Square)
      73 (Victoria Bus Station to Stoke Newington)
      134 (North Finchley Bus Station to Tottenham Court Road)
      390 (Archway Station to Notting Hill Gate).
  • By Train View
    • Euston, St Pancras International and King's Cross stations are close to the majority of the University buildings. However, all of the London Terminal stations are within reach of the campus using public transport.
  • By Underground View
    • The closest tube stations to Gower Street are Euston Square (Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan and Circle lines), Warren Street (Northern and Victoria lines), Euston (Northern and Victoria lines) and Russell Square (Piccadilly line).
      There are many other tube stations in the vicinity of the University, including King's Cross St Pancras, Holborn, Tottenham Court Road and Goodge Street.
      The step-free underground stations nearby are; Euston Square, King’s Cross St Pancras and Tottenham Court Road.

    • This ramp is easy, has a handrail on the left and a width of 110cm (as shown in photograph 4).

Entrance (Anatomy Building First Floor)

Entrance (Anatomy Building Second Floor)

Getting Around

  • Access View
    • There is step free access throughout the majority of the building, via lift.
    • There is/are 5 clearly marked step(s), with handrails on both sides, for access to 126-128 & 138-140 from the Anatomy Building first floor entrance.
    • The step(s) is/are medium height (11cm - 17cm).
    • There is no level access from the lift to these rooms as the rooms are located of the landing between 1 and 1M on the main staircase. There are four stairs between floor 1 and the rooms.
    • There is/are 3 clearly marked step(s), with handrails on both sides, for access to 229-232 from the Anatomy Building second floor entrance.
    • The step(s) is/are deep (18cm+).
    • There is no level access from the lift as the rooms are located off the landing between 1M and 2 on the main staircase. There are three stairs between floor 2 and the rooms.
    • There are doors in corridors which have to be opened manually.
  • Getting Around View
    • There is clear signage for building facilities/areas in the foyer/reception area.
    • There is clearly written directional signage at key points of circulation routes.
    • There is high colour contrast between the walls and floor in all areas.
    • The lighting levels are good.
    • This building does not play background music.
    • There is not a hearing assistance system.

    • The floors which are accessible by stairs are B-G-1-1M-2.
    • There are 15+ steps between floors.
    • There are manual, heavy, single doors to access the stairwell from the first floor upwards and on the ground floor.
    • The lighting levels are bright.
    • The steps are clearly marked.
    • The steps are deep (18cm+).
    • The steps do have handrails.
    • The steps have a handrail on the right going up.
    • There is a landing.
    • There is a second staircase of 15+ stairs between the main staircase and the Anatomy Building leading from the second to the third floor (as shown in photograph 2).

Other Floors (East Staircase)

    • The floors which are accessible by stairs are B-G-GM-1M-2.
    • There are 15+ steps between floors.
    • There are manual, single doors which may be difficult to open to access the stairwell on the ground floor, on the upper ground floor, on the first floor and on the second floor.
    • The lighting levels are good.
    • The steps are clearly marked.
    • The steps are deep (18cm+).
    • The steps do have handrails.
    • The steps have a handrail on the left going up.
    • There is a landing.
  • Other View
    • The area(s)/service(s) on the floors which are not accessible is/are G45-G47, 237-238.
  • Comments View
    • The stairs lead to a landing along the ground floor corridor on which there are stairs to either side leading to different areas of the ground floor.
    • The lift is up the stairs to the left, so therefore the rooms located up the steps to your left (G45 - G47) have no step free access.
    • The landing and the stairs on either side can be seen in photographs 3 and 4.

Lift
