Getting To The Hospital (Bristol Royal Infirmary - Zone A & Zone B)

  • By Road View
    • Bristol Royal Infirmary is located on Upper Maudlin Street in the centre of the city. The postcode to use for the Sat-Nav is BS2 8HW. From the west of the city, Bristol Royal Infirmary can be accessed via several routes from the A370, A369 and the A4. From the east of the city the main route to the hospital is from the M32, A4032 and the A4044.
    • On-site parking is very limited and all patients and visitors are encouraged to use public transport or nearby public car parks whenever possible. There are various pay & display car parks around the hospital and parking for Blue Badge Holders is free of charge in any of the parking spaces (apart from the 15 minute drop-off spaces) as long as the Blue Badge is correctly displayed. There are drop-off spaces located outside the main entrance of the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Emergency Department, Royal Hospital for Children, Haematology & Oncology Centre, Bristol Heart Centre and St Michael's Hospital. The Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre offer concessionary parking for some patients.
  • By Bus View
    • Several local bus routes serve the hospital site. They are the 3X, 13, 72a, U1, U1e and the X7. The bus stop is located on Upper Maudlin Street to the right of the Main Hospital entrance. There is a free shuttle bus service provided for patients, staff and visitors which stops outside the Bristol Royal Infirmary Building. The circular route includes Bristol Temple Meads Station and around the various hospital sites.
    • There is not an onsite bus stop.
  • By Train View
    • Bristol Temple Meads is approximately 1 mile (25 minutes walk) from the hospital. The HUBS free hospital shuttle bus runs frequently from the Temple Meads station to all hospital sites. There are also several taxi services which run from the station.

Getting To (Intensive Care (ICU) - Ward A600)

  • Intensive Care (ICU) - Ward A600 is/are located on level 6 of Zone A.
  • Access to Intensive Care (ICU) - Ward A600 is via the Main Entrance.
  • Enter the hospital via the Main Entrance and turn right. Go past reception and follow the corridor around to the left through two sets of open double doors. Go straight ahead until you enter Zone A. Turn left and enter the lift lobby. Take a lift up to level 6. Exit the lift and turn right through the double doors following signs to A600 & A601. Bear diagonally left past the A601 staff entrance and follow the corridor through 2 more open doorways. Intensive Care (ICU) Ward A600 is located on the right hand side.
  • There is step free access, via lift, to Intensive Care (ICU) - Ward A600.
  • Intensive Care (ICU) - Ward A600 is approximately 50m from the Lifts 1, 2 and 3.
  • There is a/are manual, double door(s) which may be difficult to open between the lifts and the department/service.
