COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in January 2021.
  • Most University food outlets are now shut in line with government guidance.
  • Opening times of areas are under constant review given the number of people on campus and government guidance.
  • External queuing systems are located outside the Fresh Shop and Student Services.
  • All buildings have entrances and exits via separate doors to assist with social distancing.
  • Hand sanitising stations are at the entrance to all buildings and in each room used for study spaces.
  • There is a limited number of people allowed inside.
  • The number of people permitted in each room is signed on the door to that space.
  • Clearly signed one way systems have been set up both internally and externally around the campus.
  • There should be no more than one person in the lift at any time.
  • Floor markings and wall signs have been installed to remind people to keep 2m apart.
  • Protective screens have been installed across the university.
  • Some urinals and cubicles in toilets have been closed to assist with social distancing.
  • All showers are available, but the number of people permitted in them is indicated by a sign on the door.

University Bus Stop to Convocation Avenue Crossing

  • From the U1 Bus Stop Shelter (on the south side of the bus stop area, outside 8 East), follow the path down the hill to the crossing.
  • The path has a block paving surface, which is uneven in places, and has an easy to moderate slope down.
  • It is approximately 34m from the U1 Bus Stop to the Convocation Avenue Crossing.

Crossing Convocation Avenue

  • This is a pelican crossing.
  • The buttons are 105cm and 113cm high.
  • There are dropped kerbs with blister tactile paving on both sides of the crossing.
  • The dropped kerbs have a very easy slope, as the crossing is raised higher than the road level.
  • The crossing has an easy slope down and is half tarmac and half block paving.
  • The crossing is 6m wide.

Continue Straight Ahead from the Crossing

  • After crossing Convocation Avenue, continue straight ahead for 8m to the drain cover.
  • This path has an easy slope down with a block paving surface, which is slightly uneven in places.
  • At the drain cover, either continue straight ahead to The Edge, or turn right for the Sports Training Village.

Continue Straight Ahead to The Edge

  • From the drain cover, the path slopes up moderately.
  • The first 4m has a block paving surface, followed by 6m with a tarmac surface.
  • The slope levels out towards the top of the tarmac area.
  • Beyond the tarmac, the path slopes down to the entrance to The Edge for 14m.
  • This path has a block paving surface and a moderate slope down.
  • There are also 6 medium steps with handrails to the side of the slope down to access The Edge entrance.

Turn Right to the Sports Training Village

  • From the drain cover, turn right and follow the path to the Sports Training Village.
  • This path has an uneven block paving surface with a very easy slope down.
  • After approximately 24m, the path meets the ramp leading up to the Sports Training Village entrance.

Ramp to the Sports Training Village Entrance

  • The slope has a moderate slope up.
  • When it levels out at the top, turn left towards the Sports Training Village entrance.
  • There is a very easy slope leading down to the entrance from here.
  • The ramp has a block paving surface which is slightly uneven in places.
  • It is approximately 35m from the start of the ramp to the entrance.
