Route Summary

Woodland Court Accommodation Office to the Access Route Crossing

  • Woodland Court accommodation office is located on the West side of the Woodland Court accommodation building.
  • As you exit the accommodation office continue ahead towards the access road crossing.

Access Road Crossing

  • There is a designated crossing at this point of the access road.

Access Road Crossing to the Convocation Avenue Crossing

  • There is a path leading from the access road crossing to the Convocation Avenue crossing.
  • This path leads between the accommodation buildings, Solsbury Court and the Chesnut Quad.
  • There is an easy slope leading up to the path from the crossing, with bollards at the top, 149cm wide at the narrowest.
  • Pedestrians can use the central walkway or the covered path to the right. The covered path is 109cm wide at its narrowest.
  • The surface of the walkway and path is tarmac which is uneven in places.
  • After approximately 175m outside Solsbury Court Block A the surface becomes block paving for 20m.
  • The block paving is uneven in places.
  • Continue straight ahead onto the tarmac surface for approximately 25m. This has an easy gradient down, and is uneven in places.
  • Turn right and take the tarmacked shingle path for 32m to the crossing. This path has an easy slope down.

Crossing Convocation Avenue

  • The crossing is raised to the level of the path on both sides. There is tactile paving on both sides.
  • The crossing has a tarmacked shingle surface with an easy slope leading down to the other side.

Convocation Avenue Crossing To Lift To The Parade

  • After crossing Convocation Avenue, turn right and follow the block paving path along the side of 6 East. This path is uneven in places, and has an easy slope leading up then down.
  • After 35m the gradient levels out and has a concrete surface with lines of paving slabs, making it uneven in places. Follow this path for a further 22m to the lift.

Lift (Service Road Lift to The Parade)

  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is located at the end of the service road path.
  • The lift is a standard lift.
  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are 1-2.
  • Wall mounted information boards are provided at lift landings.
  • Staff do not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The clear door width is 90cm (2ft 11in).
  • The dimensions of the lift are 100cm x 140cm (3ft 3in x 4ft 7in).
  • There are separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
  • There is not a mirror to aid reversing out of the lift.
  • The lift does have a visual floor indicator.

    • The person using the lift will need to push the intercom button (which will connect to the main security desk). Security will then grant the user permission to use the lift.

The Parade to the Library

  • On exiting the service road lift continue straight ahead.
  • The Student Union is located to the right.
  • The surface of the walkway is made up of large flag stones which are uneven in places.
  • On the other side of the underpass there is an easy slope that leads down towards the library.

  • The library is approximately 100m from the service road lift.
