Introduction

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • Approaching from the north west or south east along the M6:
      Leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38(M)
      At the end of the motorway, keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through some underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road.
      The University is on your right, two and a half miles from the city centre.

      Approaching from the M42 north:
      Leave at Junction 8 to join the M6 northbound and follow the instructions above.

      Approaching from the south west:
      Leave the M5 at Junction 4 signposted Birmingham SW) to join the A38.
      The University is approximately eight miles from the motorway.

      Approaching from the M40:
      It is easier to turn south on the M42 and leave at Junction 1, heading north on the A38 Bristol Road.
      The University is approximately eight miles from the motorway.
    • Vale Village is located north of the University’s Edgbaston Campus; it’s not necessary to go onto campus to get to Vale Village. The Village has a one-way system down Mason Way which is entered from Church Road ( the B4217) and exits on Edgbaston Park Road. Elgar Court has blue badge holder parking adjacent, with limited permit holder parking nearby. Note: The Vale Village reception is in Shackleton Hall The nearest public car park is located at the North East Car Park off Pritchatts Road at B15 2SA which is 1.1 mile and a 21 minute walk from Elgar Court.
  • By Bus View
    • NXBus 1 runs along Church Road and stops near Chamberlain Hall, Stop ID: nwmatgwt, 150 m and a 2 minute walk from Elgar Court on a generally level route.
      Nxbus numbers X20 Platinum, X21 Platinum and X22 Platinum run along Edgbaston Park Road from the city centre by Moor Street Station and stop a 10 minute walk, 0.4 miles away at the junction of Mason Way and Edgbaston Park Road, bus stop ID: nwmapjmw.
  • By Train View
    • Five Ways train station is 1 mile, and a 20 minute walk along Church road, Calthorpe Road and Islington Row Middleway on a generally level route.
      From Birmingham New Street Station around six trains an hour call at University Station and take 8 - 10 minutes. The ?nal destination for trains are Bromsgrove, Redditch, Hereford and Cardiff Central. Elgar Court is a 25 minute walk, 1.2 miles from University Station along Vincent Drive, Farquhar Road, Somerset Road and Edgbaston Park Road (generally level) or along the canal tow path (steps at either end).
