Bolton One to Senate House Quad

  • Proceed along the front of Bolton One.

  • Continue along the footpath for approximately 25m to the eastern side of the Senate House Quad.

Senate House Quad Ramped Route to Senate House Main Entrance

  • After entering the quad turn right onto the footpath running around the northern side of the quad.
  • The surface of the footpath is block paved.
  • The footpath is level.
  • The footpath follows a curved route.
  • After approximately 19m there is an easy uphill gradient.
  • There is a handrail on the right hand side going up the gradient.
  • Proceed along the footpath to the top of the gradient at the western edge of the quad.
  • Senate House Main Entrance is on the right.

Senate House Quad Stepped Route to Senate House Main Entrance

  • After entering the quad proceed straight ahead to the centre of the quad.
  • The surface of the footpath is block paved.
  • The surface of the centre of the quad is concrete tiles.
  • Proceed past the sculpture in the centre of the quad.
  • There are 5 medium height steps without handrails.
  • The steps are not clearly marked.
  • There is not tactile paving at the top and bottom of the steps.
  • Senate House Main Entrance is immediately ahead.

Senate House Main Entrance to Senate House Court Entrance

  • Proceed through the 2 sets of automatic double doors into Senate House.
  • Bear slight left and proceed past the reception and reception foyer stairs.
  • Follow the corridor bearing slightly right and proceed through a set of double doors, which are permanently held open.
  • Proceed along the corridor.
  • There is an easy downwards ramp along this corridor, 123cm wide, with handrails on both sides.
  • There are 3 clearly marked medium height steps without handrails next to the ramp.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • Proceed to the end of the corridor and continue through the doors.
  • The doors are double, heavy and manual.
  • The left hand door is automatic by push pad.
  • The width of the automatic door is 85cm.
  • Continue straight ahead through another set of double doors, which are permanently held open.
  • Proceed across the foyer to the Senate House Court Entrance.

Senate House Court Entrance to University Way

  • Proceed through the two sets of automatic double doors to exit Senate House.
  • There is an easy ramp downwards, with 180 degree turn to the right as you exit the building (shown in photographs 2 and 3).
  • The ramp has handrails on both sides and is 125cm wide.
  • There are 3 clearly marked medium height steps immediately ahead as you exit the building.
  • The steps do not have handrails.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • At the bottom of the ramp and steps proceed across the Pro Chancellor's Car Park following the clearly marked pedestrian walkway.
  • There is level access to the walkway.
  • The car park may be busy.
  • Traffic crosses from both directions.
  • Continue along the marked pathway to the edge of the car park.
  • The surface of the car park is tarmac.
  • At the edge of the car park bear slightly left and proceed towards University Way.
  • The surface of the footpath is tarmac.
  • There is level access to the footpath from the car park.
  • There are bollards on the footpath.
  • The minimum width between the bollards is 117cm.
  • Continue straight ahead to the crossing.

Cross University Way

  • The crossing is pedestrian controlled.
  • The crossing is shared with bicycles.
  • The height of the buttons is 102cm.
  • There are high level crossing signals.
  • The crossing has a central island.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at the crossing.
  • The crossing point on the central island is staggered.
  • The surface of the crossing point is tarmac.

University Way to Chancellor's Building
