Introduction

Getting Here (Getting to Park Wood: Nickle Court)

  • By Road View
    • Park Wood is located to the north side of the Canterbury Campus, accessed via Park Wood Road.
      Park Wood Road connects to Giles Lane which runs through central campus and connects the A290 Whitstable Road.
      Nickle Court is located to the north-west side of the Park Wood Courts.
    • The Park Wood Courts have a few car parking spaces per court.
      The nearest campus car park for visitors (pay and display), University Pink or Blue Permit or Accessible Parking Permit/ Blue Badge holders is the Pavilion Car Park off Park Wood Road.
      This is approximately 250 metres from Nickle Court.
  • By Bus View
    • There are frequent Unibus services linking the University campus with the centre of Canterbury and Canterbury East and West train stations.
      The nearest bus stop is on Parkwood Road close to the Pavilion and Indoor Tennis and Events Arena.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station is Canterbury West, to the north of the city centre.
      There are buses linking the city centre with the University campus, with stops about 5 minutes away from the station.

Building Parking (Park Wood Courts - Nickle and Kemsdale)

  • The building does have its own dedicated parking.

    • Room 5E was surveyed. It has a double bed, a desk that is 75cm high and an ensuite with a 14cm step into the room. This is shown in photographs 1-5.
    • Photographs 6 and 7 show the standard shared kitchen with all standard amenities. The counter is 90cm high.
    • Auxiliary Aids: Certain accomodation blocks may be suggested for more space if a resident has an assistance dog. Similarly, if a student/resident has a lot of specialist equipment, an ensuite or studio would be suggested (normally the university will pay the difference in cost).
    • Any additional aids for sensory or mobility impairments (vibrating pillows, light alerts, mobile hoists) are the student’s home local authority’s responsibility. However, they can be provided on request in the interim if any issues arise.

Study Hub

  • The study hub has study spaces with computers, vending machines and toilets.
  • The high tables are 10cm high, whilst there are 6 computers on a table 76cm high. There are also armchairs with a table on the side that is 67cm high with a 60cm recess underneath.
