- This route is from the front of the 9 Mappin Street Building to the Students' Union - University House, via Leavygreave Road and the University of Sheffield tram stop.
- The route is approximately half a mile (800 metres) long.
Outside the 9 Mappin Street Building Main Entrance
- On leaving the building, turn left along Mappin Street
- There is tactile paving in front of the building steps here and bollards towards the road.
- Continue along till the end of the building to the Portobello junction.
Mappin Street Portobello Junction
- There is tactile paving on both sides of the pavement at the entrance to Portobello Street.
- Portobello Street is pedestrianised here with widely spaced bollards across the pavement and street.
Portobello
- Turn right at Portobello. The road at this point is pedestrianised, with a brick block paving surface. There are pavements either side with a block paving with a block paving surface. There are no kerbs.
- The road and pavements have a moderate to steep slope up.
- There are several crossing areas with tactile paving on both sides.
Crossing Regent Street
- There is tactile paving both sides of the road.
- The road is raised with a brick block surface, uneven in places, with an easy slope up.
Leavygreave Road
- The path has a block paving surface to Regent Terrace, then tarmac, with a moderate slope up.
- The path crosses Regent Terrace and Victoria Street.
- The Regent Terrace crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving both sides. The road is raised block paving with a moderate slope up.
- The Victoria Street crossing has a dropped kerbs and tactile paving both sides. The road has a raised block paving surface, with a moderate slope to the left as you cross.
Continuing Along Leavygreave Road Past Victoria Street
- Past Victoria Street the path has an uneven tarmac surface, and has a moderate slope down.
- Cross Gell Street. There are dropped kerbs without tactile paving both sides of the road.
- The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope to the left as you cross.
- The path continues with an uneven tarmac surface and easy slope down.
Corner of Leavygreave Road and Upper Hanover Street
- There is a moderate slope up to a block paving path.
- Turn left and follow the path, which has a moderate slope, down to the crossing.
Crossing Upper Hanover Street Southbound and Tram Stop
- There is a pelican crossing to cross Upper Hanover Street, which has buttons 101 cm high, and dropped kerbs with tactile paving both sides.
- The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope up and to the left.
- After crossing, turn left across a short stretch of block paving to the tram lines crossing, which also has tactile paving both sides.
- The tram lines area has a concrete surface, uneven due to the tram lines, and an easy slope to the left as you cross.
- After crossing the tram lines, turn right to the northbound crossing.
Cross Upper Hanover Street Northbound
- From the tram stop, there is a pelican crossing to cross the northbound side of Upper Hanover Street.
- The crossing has buttons 100 cm high, and dropped kerbs with tactile paving both sides.
- The road has a light brown tarmac surface with a slight slope to the left as you cross.
West Side of Upper Hanover Street
- After crossing Upper Hanover Street, turn right and head towards Information Commons.
- The path here has a concrete tile surface with a slight slope up.
Leavygreave Road
- After 16m turn left up Leavygreave Road.
- This path has a block paved surface with a slight slope.
- The path crosses the entrance to the CISC car park, which does not have a kerb.
- There are bollards along the path just before the CISC car park entrance.
- The minimum width at the bollards is 144cm.
Crossing Leavygreave Road and Favell Road
- Just beyond the entrance to the CISC car park there is a crossing point.
- There is level access across Leavygreave Road.
- After crossing Leavygreave Road turn left and proceed across Favell Road.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides of Favell Road.
- The road has a tarmac surface with a slight slope up and to the right as you cross.
Leavygreave Road Far Side
- After crossing, continue up Leavygreave Road.
- The path has an uneven tarmac surface, with a slight to steep slope.
- Cross a service road, with dropped kerbs without tactile paving.
- Past the service road, the path turns to join Hounsfield Road. The path here has a mix of a stone paving and tarmac surface.
- There are bollards towards the top of the slope, at the end of the road section.
- The minimum width between the bollards is 158cm.
- Beyond the bollards the path has a tarmac surface and becomes steep.
- There is a block paved cycle route along this section of the route.
- There is a designated crossing point across the cycle route with tactile paving on both sides.
- After crossing the cycle route the path becomes stone paved.
- Continue up the steep slope to the top of the hill. There a central handrail on this section of the slope.
Western Bank
- Turn right and follow the path alongside Western Bank.
- The path has a stone paving surface and proceeds past the back of the bus stop, on the lower level of Western Bank.
- The path continues with a slight slope down.
- There are bollards along the path after 4m.
- The minimum width between the bollards is 114cm.
- Past the bollards, the surface becomes block paving, and leads down to the area in front of the Students' Union.
Front of the Students' Union Area
- The plaza area in front of the Students' Union - University House has a stone block paving surface with level access to the main entrance to the Students' Union.
