Access Guide
Introduction
- This route is from campus main car park to Wates House, via the Austin Pearce (Block AP) building and Alan Turing (Block BB)/James Joule (Block BC). This route is approximately 330 meters long.

Campus main car park to Piazza
- From the campus main car park entrance, turn left.
- Proceed along a slight upward gradient uneven tarmac path (photographs 1 and 2).
- Continue for 30m to a zebra crossing with dropped kerbs tactile paving on both sides (photographs 3 and 4).
- Cross the zebra crossing, turn left, and follow the path to the Piazza bus stops (photographs 5 and 6).
- The Piazza has an uneven stone surface, and a slight downward gradient towards the road (photograph 7).
Campus Pay and Display Car Park to Piazza
- From the campus pay and display car park, follow the path to the right (photographs 1 to 3).
- The slight upward gradient path has a smooth tarmac surface.
- Continue to a zebra crossing with dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides (photographs 4 and 5).
- Cross the zebra crossing, turn left, and follow the path to the Piazza bus stops (photographs 6 and 7).
- The Piazza has an uneven stone surface, and a slight downward gradient towards the road (photograph 8).
Piazza to Austin Pearce (AP)
- From the Piazza bus stops, proceed along the path to the Austin Pearce Building (Block AP).
- The path is level and has a compact stone surface.

Austin Pearce (AP) to Service Road via Blocks BB/BC
- Proceed directly through the Austin Pearce Building (Block AP) towards the rear of the building.
- Leave the Austin Pearce Building (Block AP) via the rear entrance.
- Cross the block paved, level service road, being aware of passing traffic.
- Proceed ahead towards the Alan Turing (Block BB)/James Joule (Block BC) buildings (Blocks BB/BC) entrance (photographs 5 and 6).
- Enter Blocks BB/BC and proceed along the corridor to the rear of the building (photographs 7 and 8).
- The lighting levels in this corridor are low.
- Exit through the entrance at the end of the corridor (photograph 9).

- On exiting Blocks BB/BC, proceed ahead along the uneven service road (photographs 10 and 11).
- There is not a dropped kerb to access the pedestrian pavement.
- For safety, if using the road, travel on the right to face oncoming traffic.
- Continue along and upwards to the top of the steep slope (photograph 12).
Service Road Past Blocks AC/AD to Path in front of Performing Arts Centre (PATS)
- At the service road, turn right and proceed along the path (photograph 1).
- The path is level with a tarmac surface, and is uneven in places.
- Proceed across the gated service entrance into the James Joule Building (Block BC) via dropped kerbs with tactile paving (photographs 2 and 3).
- Continue for 90m to a service road crossing with dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides (photograph 6).
- Cross the access road and follow the tarmac path for 25m past the roundabout (photograph 7).
- Use the dropped kerbs to cross the service road to the Teaching Block (Block TB) (photograph 8, 9 and 10).
- Proceed along the sometimes uneven block paved path to the left, and up a steep gradient for 20m, to the end (photographs 11 and 12).
- To access the Teaching Block (Block TB), continue straight ahead onto the service road for 16m, then turn right.

Teaching Block (TB) to Wates House (WA)
- Cross the service road using the dropped kerbs with tactile paving (photographs 1 to 3).
- Turn right and follow the tarmac path with a steep gradient towards the roundabout (photographs 4 to 7).
- Cross over the roundabout and proceed on the road to the right (photographs 8 to 9).
- There is no pedestrian walkway here.
- For safety when walking on a road, keep right, facing oncoming road traffic.
- Follow the smooth tarmac steep gradient road to the left until reaching Wates House (Block WA) (photographs 10 and 11).
