COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in October 2020.
  • There have been no changes to the parking.
  • There are separate doors for entering and exiting.
  • The main entrance is still used for access, however the east fire exit is used for exiting the building.
  • Additional hand sanitising stations have been installed at entrances, in toilets in the canteen area, in all classrooms and workshops and in communal areas.
  • Signage has been installed in all areas.
  • Floor markings and wall signs have been added throughout to inform people of social distancing requirements.
  • A protective screen has been installed at the main reception desk.
  • Some urinals and cubicles in the standard toilets have been closed to assist with social distancing.

Introduction

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • UAL, London College of Fashion Curtain Road is based in Shoreditch in the London Borough of Hackney. The Curtain Road buildings are located on Curtain Road off Great Eastern Street (A1202).
    • There is one parking space on site which can be pre booked and priority will be given to Blue Badge holders. There is no on street parking on Curtain Road.
  • By Bus View
    • There are a number of bus routes which stop close to UAL, London College of Fashion Curtain Road building on Curtain Road. Bus routes 35 and 47 stop outside the building on Curtain Road and bus routes 135 and 205 stop nearby on Great Eastern Street.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest National Rail station to UAL, London College of Fashion Curtain Road building is Shoreditch High Street which is approximately a 4 minute (0.2 miles) walk away from Curtain Road. However, all of the London Terminal stations are within reach of campus using public transport.
  • By Underground View
    • The nearest underground station to UAL, London College of Fashion Curtain Road building is Old Street (Northern Line Bank branch) which is approximately a 7 minute (0.3 miles) walk away from Curtain Road.

Building Parking

  • The building does have its own dedicated parking.
  • Building Car Park View
    • The car park can be used by anybody.
    • There are no parking charges that apply on the day.
    • The car park is located to the right of the main building.
    • The car park type is open air/surface.
    • The car park does not have a height restriction barrier.
    • Designated Blue Badge parking bays are not available.

    • There is only one parking space in the courtyard of the building in front of the Cabins (as shown in photograph 1).
    • This space is used for quick deliveries and can also be used by anybody with access needs visiting the site.
    • Use of the parking space needs to be prearranged with the University.
    • Upon arrival you will need to notify staff who will unlock and open the gates off Curtain Road to provide access to the parking space.
    • The parking space is approximately 360cm wide x 500cm deep.

    • The push pad to enter at this entrance is placed at 70cm high and to exit at 87cm high.
    • This entrance leads into the area between the first and second sets of doors from the main entrance.

Reception

    • There is a lower section of the reception at 82cm with a clear knee recess (as shown in photograph 2).
    • There is no hearing loop, however there is a hearing fire alert system in place which students can register for and will receive a text alert if the alarm is activated.

Getting Around

  • Access View
    • There is step free access throughout the ground floor.
    • There is a steep ramp, with handrails on both sides, for access to the Café from the reception area.
    • The handrails only cover the first 100cm of the ramp. The ramp is approximately 200cm. The ramp is shown in photographs 1 and 2.
    • There is/are 6 unmarked step(s), with no handrails, for access to the stockroom from on the first floor corridor.
