Loch Morlich Beach

  • Families play games on the sand, windsurfers tack across the clean water, and when the sun shines you can top up your tan. Close your eyes and you could be at the seaside Famous for being the highest beach in Britain, this is the only freshwater beach in Scotland to have a Rural Beach Award.

  • Meander through the beautiful pine, birch and alder woods by the Allt Mor burn to reach Loch Morlich’s golden sands.
  • There is a not a member of staff located at Loch Morlich Beach, the nearest member of staff is located at the Glenmore Visitor Centre.

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • From Aviemore follow the signs for Rothiemurchus, Glenmore and the Cairngorm Mountain Railway. Continue through Rothiemurchus Estate and onto Glenmore village. The visitor centre is on your left in the centre of the village. The car park is at grid reference NH 977 098.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • Buses between Aviemore and the Cairngorm Mountain Railway pass the visitor centre. You'll find details at Traveline Scotland.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest Railway Station is Aviemore.
  • Useful Links View
    • You can cycle here from Aviemore on the Old Logging Way, a superb, safe bike route that runs for 6 miles / 9.7 km between Aviemore and the Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Centre.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.

Road - Glenmore Forest Visitor Centre

Glenmore Visitor Centre to Road to Beach Car Park

  • After visiting the Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Centre, the trail continues to the left of the visitor centre, there is a bridge which leads to the car park.
  • The surface of the car park is tarmac.
  • There is a steep slope to your right which leads to a tarmac path which leads down to main road.
  • The path is on a steep slope.
  • The path has a tarmac surface.
  • There are directional fence posts along the path.
  • To get back to Beach Car Park, the trail crosses Old Logging Way.
  • There are no dropped kerbs.
  • Caution is advised when crossing the road due to oncoming traffic from both directions.
