Introduction

  • The following information describes the route from the home and away coach parking/drop-off area in Priory Road to Goodison Park.
  • The approximate distance of this route is 350m- 750m depending on where the coach parks (away coaches park nearer to the stadium).
  • The route takes approximately 4-9 minutes.
  • The pavements along the route have a flagstone and /or tarmac paving surface.
  • The potential hazards on this route include; posts, trees, bins, uneven paving, road crossings and congested pathways.

Priory Road to Walton Lane

  • After exiting the coach turn right and follow the footpath until you reach the junction with Walton Lane.
  • The footpath has a mostly flagstone paving surface except for a section where there is a strip of tarmac on the right hand side (as shown in Photograph 1).
  • There may be some bins, driveways, signs, posts and a bus shelter along this section of the route depending where the coach has parked.
  • The Stanley Park driveways have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • There was a Highway Maintenance vehicle parked on the path, near the Walton Lane junction, at the time of the survey.

Priory Road / Walton Lane Crossing

  • At the junction with Walton Lane turn right and cross Priory Road, bearing left then cross Walton Lane.
  • There are 3 lanes of traffic to cross.
  • At the first crossing you need to wait for the lights to turn red as there are no controls.
  • Traffic comes from the right at the Priory Road crossing.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides of the road.
  • At the far side bear left and use the controls to cross Walton Lane.
  • The control button is at a height of 110cm and has a rotating cone underneath.
  • There is a central island with another control for crossing the other lane.
  • The control button is at a height of 126cm and has a rotating cone underneath.
  • Traffic comes from the right and then the left after the central island.
  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both side and also across the central island.

Walton Lane to Bullens Road

  • After crossing Walton Lane turn left and follow the path.
  • The path along this section has a flagstone paving surface which can be slightly uneven in places.
  • Approximately 20-40 metres after the crossing you will pass a private matchday car park on the right hand side.
  • The car park has 3 access driveways which you have to cross.
  • All 3 crossings have dropped kerbs on both sides and tactile paving.
  • Approximately 110 metres after the Walton Lane crossing you will reach Bullens Road which is closed to traffic before matches.

Bullens Road to the Outer Concourse

  • At the Bullens Road crossing there are dropped kerbs on both sides but no tactile paving.
  • There are cones and a sign in the road to prevent traffic entering on matchdays.
  • At the far side continue along the Walton Lane path past the 2 bus shelters.
  • The surface of the path is flagstone paving.
  • The path is level but the paving is uneven in places.
  • Follow the path for approximately 140 metres until you reach the junction with Spellow Lane where the Dixie Dean statue is located on the outer walkway.

Outer Concourse

  • There is step-free access throughout the outer concourse.
    The surface of the outer concourse is tarmac.
    The outer concourse includes Goodison Road, Gwladys Street and Bullens Road. There are dropped kerbs from the roads to the outer concourse path.
  • There are food and drink stands located around the outer concourse.
    There are programme stalls located around the outer concourse.
    There is a large screen located on Bullens Road displaying highlights of Everton matches.

  • There is step-free access to all stands from the outer concourse.
  • The roads immediately surrounding Goodison Park are closed 2 hours before kick-off with the exception of residents and car park pass holders only.
    A full road closure will be in place 45 minutes before kick-off.
    The road closure will begin again shortly before the final whistle and remain in place for 15-20 minutes, depending on crowd density.
  • Clear directional signage is provided on the concourse.
  • There is a stadium plan/map on the concourse.
  • There is a steward/member of staff available for assistance on match days.
