Getting Around

  • There are tarmac paths running throughout the park, linking all buildings and facilities.
  • These are generally level, although uneven in places and with some easy slopes.
  • The only exceptions are the picnic areas (photograph 7) and the Event Space (photograph 8), which are unsurfaced.

Viewing Platforms

  • There are 3 viewing platforms within the Visitor Park, all located off the main car park.
  • The closest platform to the Visitor Centre Reception building is accessed by a slight ramp, with a brick block paving surface.
  • The platform contains bench seating and picnic benches, plus a telescope (photographs 1-4).
  • The other 2 platforms are accessed by 15 medium steps with handrails both sides.
  • These do not have seating, just telescopes (photographs 5-8).

Aircraft

  • There are 3 aircraft outside in the park, which can be visited as part of a tour, although they can be viewed externally by all visitors to the park.
  • There is a Nimrod (photograph 1) and a Trident Three (photograph 2) on the far side of the main car park.
  • There is also an Avro RJX (photographs 3 and 4) at the far end of the park, past the Concorde Hangar and the play area.
  • All of these aircraft are accessed by steps only.

Children's Play Area

  • The play area is located to the side of the Concorde Hangar and Restaurant.
  • It is accessed by a rubberised tarmac path from the main path, with a bark loose chippings surface around the apparatus.
  • The area includes a climbing frame, climbing wall, trail and accessible swing.
