Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The LSE campus is located in central London, off Kingsway (A4200) and the Aldwych (A4).
    • This campus does not have its own car park, but Blue Badge and standard on-street parking is available nearby.

    • There are 4 stairs in front of the entrance that can be bypassed via the ramp (as shown in photographs 2 and 3). There are then 2 alternate sets of 4 steps inside the building that can be bypassed via a platform lift. These are shown in photographs 5 and 6 and these are clearly marked.
    • At the time of the survey (August 2020) there was a one way system in place in this building, and this entrance was mainly being used as an entrance only. Due to this, the automatic doors were not being used. Access is via double, heavy doors, 142 cm wide, which open towards you.
    • These require a key card to access. The card reader is 104 cm high. Visitors should use the intercom to gain access.
    • Once inside you are directed to use the steps or the lift to the left to enter the building (photograph 6).
    • There is a pedal operated hand sanitiser dispenser located just outside this entrance (shown in photograph 4). The dispenser is 90 cm high.

Reception (Main Reception)

Getting Around (Ground and First Floor)

    • There is a slight ramp, with handrails on both sides, for access to Student Services Office.
    • The ramp can be seen in photograph 1.
    • There is a slight ramp, with a handrail on the right going up, for access to Rooms 1.07-1.11.
    • The width of the ramp is 120cm (3ft 11in).
    • The ramp is located on the first floor opposite the rear lift and can be seen in photograph 2. There is a shorter ramp nearby leading to Rooms 1.13-1.18 which can be seen in photograph 3.
    • There is/are 5 clearly marked step(s), with a handrail on the left going up, for access to Vera Anstey Conference Room.
    • The step(s) is/are medium height (11cm - 17cm).
    • These stairs are the easiest way to reach the Vera Anstey Conference Room. They are found when approaching the room from the Stairwell B Lift. These steps can be seen in photograph 4.
    • There are no doors in corridors which have to be opened manually.
  • Getting Around View
    • There is clear signage for building facilities/areas in the foyer/reception area.

Lecture Theatre(s) (Old Lecture Theatre)

  • The corridor outside the lecture theatre(s) is sufficiently wide enough (150cm+) to allow wheelchair users to pass.
  • There is step free access into the lecture theatre(s).
  • The door opening width(s) is/are 75cm+ for the lecture theatre(s).
  • The door(s) for the lecture theatre(s) is/are push pad activated.
