Getting To The Hospital

By Road
View
- Barnsley Hospital is located on Gawber Road and the postcode for the Sat-Nav is S75 2EP.
If coming from the south via the M1, exit at Junction 37 and head towards Barnsley Town Centre on the A628, after approximately 300m turn left at the crossroads onto Pogmoor Road and follow this road and it will bring you directly to the hospital.
If coming from the north take the A635 towards the town centre and then take the right turn when you reach Wilthorpe Park and follow this road which will take you to the hospital. - There are several open air car parks open to the public, they are accessible from Pogmoor Road and off Helensburgh Close.
Parking charges apply to all car park users and operates a Pay-on Foot system with payment machines in each car park.

By Bus

- There are several services which drop off outside the hospital on Gawber Road and Pogmoor Road. These include routes 93, 93a, 94, 95, 95a, 96, 96a, 97, 478 and 485 stopping on Gawber Road and routes 44 and 478 stopping on Pogmoor road.

Getting Help and Assistance
- There are volunteers available for help and assistance at the hospital.
- Volunteers can be found near the main entrance, at the bottom of the escalators to Outpatients Reception.
- Hospital staff do receive disability awareness / equality training.
- Hospital staff receive deaf awareness training.
- Documents are available in an alternative format and can be provided to include: Braille on request and large print on request.
- There is not an assistance dog toilet or toileting area on the hospital site.
- Water bowls for assistance dogs are available on request.
- BSL interpreters can be provided on request.
- Language interpreters can be provided on request.
- A mobility scooter charging point is not available at the hospital.
- Mobility aids are available to help patients move around and include; wheelchairs.

Getting To (Pre-Assessment Clinic)

- Enter via the main hospital entrance - C2 and turn right. Proceed along the corridor to the lifts located on the left. Exit the lift on level 1 and turn right through the double doors signed ‘Theatre Arrivals, Children’s Outpatients and Pre-Assessment Clinic’. Proceed along to the end of the corridor, turn left through the double doors and then turn right. The entrance to the Pre-Assessment Clinic will be on the right, at the end of the corridor.
- There is step free access, via lift, to the Pre-Assessment Clinic.
- The Pre-Assessment Clinic is approximately 90m from the lifts.
- There is a/are manual, double door(s) which may be difficult to open between the lifts and the department/service.
