Introduction

Outside Access (Main Entrance)

  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope at this entrance.
    • The ramp/slope is located in front of the entrance.
    • The ramp/slope does bypass the step(s).
    • The ramp/slope gradient is slight.
    • The ramp is permanent.
    • There is a level landing at the top of the ramp.
    • The ramp does have handrails.
    • The handrails are on both sides.

    • There is a manual revolving door with a width of 140cm to the right of the first entrance door.
    • There is an alternate ramp and set of steps to access to entrance to its right (shown in photographs 8 and 9).
    • There is an alternative steep ramp to access entrance to the left of the entrance (shown in photograph 10).

Campus Central to Crossing to Caedmon

  • Turn right upon exiting the Campus Central main entrance and head to the ramp which can be seen in photograph 2.
  • The surface of the area is block paving.
  • Head down the ramp which has a width of 190cm.
  • There is tactile paving at the top and the bottom of the ramp.
  • At the bottom of ramp the turn to your right and head towards the road.
  • There is a slight downhill slope.
  • The distance between the entrance and the road is approximately 35m.

Crossing to Caedmon - James Graham Building

  • Continue down path until you reach the dropped kerb and crossing opposite Caedmon Hall.
  • Due to current construction work at Caedmon Hall there is no longer a footpath.
  • If access via a dropped kerb is required then turn right onto the road and head up towards James Graham Building.
  • If the dropped kerb is not required then turn right before the dropped kerb and crossing and follow the footpath up towards James Graham Building (photograph 2)
  • This distance is approximately 21m.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.
  • This part of the journey can be seen in photographs 1, 2 and 3.
  • At the end of the pavement or road turn left and continue heading up the road until you reach the driveway access to James Graham Building
  • Turn right onto the road until you reach the pavement in front of the James Graham Building.
  • You will need to travel along the road for 30m.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.
  • There is an uphill gradient.
  • The road can be seen in photograph 4 and 5.
  • There are currently barriers in the road between you and the drop kerb, which have a minimum width of 107cm between them. These can be seen in photograph 6 and 7.
  • The drop kerb for the pavement in front of the James Graham Building is block paved. It can be seen in photograph 8.
  • Continue along the pavement passing James Graham Building on your right.

James Graham Building - Fairfax Building

  • Turn left upon reaching the pavement and continue for 110m until you are directly in front of the Fairfax Building.
  • The surface of the pavement is block pavement.
  • There is a gentle uphill gradient along the pavement.
  • In front of the main entrance there are gentle slopes first going down then up. Booth these slopes are easy. This can be seen in photographs to 2 & 3.
  • There is a drop kerb to your left just before you reach the end of the pavement. This can be seen in photograph 5.
  • Head down the drop kerb and turn right for 14m to the drop kerb directly in front of the main entrance to the Fairfax Building. This can be seen in photographs 6 & 7.
  • There are barriers in between the drop kerbs. These can be seen in photograph 6 and 7 which have a width of 100 cm between them.
  • There is a block paved drop kerb in front of Fairfax Building main entrance which can be seen in photograph 9.

Fairfax Building - Carnegie Village Approach

  • Upon heading up the drop kerb turn left along the pavement for approximately 30m.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving.
  • The width of the pavement is 110cm.
  • There is a slight gradient towards the road along the pavement.
  • This part of the route can be seen in photograph 1.
  • After approximately 30m, the pavement will turn right at which point continue for approximately 10m and use the tactile drop kerb shown in photograph 2.
  • After heading down the drop kerb turn right for approximately 22m along the tarmac road shown in photograph 3.
  • After approximately 22m you will reach the block paved drop kerb shown in photograph 4.
  • There is over 150cm between two bollards at this drop kerb.

Carnegie Village Approach to Carnegie Village

  • The surface of the pavement is block paving.
  • Turn right up the ramp. This ramp is 160cm wide, easy, with handrails on both sides.
  • This can be seen in photographs 1 & 2.
  • At the top of the ramp head forwards towards the Carnegie Village for 25m.
  • There is a slight uphill slope.
  • This can be seen in photograph 3.
  • After 25m there will be another ramp to your right which has an easy gradient with a width of 155cm and handrails on both sides.
  • After this turn left and head towards the Carnegie Village main entrance that can be seen in photographs 5 & 6.
  • There is a slight gradient when heading towards the entrance.
