Computer Science Building to University Road

  • On exiting the Computer Science Building, turn right and head down Malone Road until you reach University Road. This distance is approximately 140m.
  • There is a section of tactile paving for a pedestrian crossing after a few metres which can be seen in photograph 1.
  • The surface of the pavement is tarmac as shown in photograph 2, before further along Malone Road the surface of the pavement becomes block paving as can be seen in photographs 2, 4 and 5.
  • There is a steep gradient as you head down the road.
  • There is a slight gradient leading towards the road.
  • After approximately 110m there is a small service road leading into a small car park, which can be seen in photograph 6.

Malone Road to Stranmillis Road

  • Turn right and head towards Stranmillis Road when you reach the Malone Road branch of Maggie May's Belfast CafĂ©. Your view at this point can be seen in photograph 1.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paved with the occasional manhole cover.
  • There are advertisements and other obstacles on this part of the pavement.
  • There is a tactile drop kerb along the pavement.

Stranmillis Road to the David Keir Building Main Entrance

  • The gradient as you head up Stranmillis Road varies, however it is often steep.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • There are the occasional obstacles caused by advertisements on the pavement. As can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
  • After approximately 85m there is a service road. This has a drop kerb on the near side and a shallow step on the far side the road itself has a tarmac surface. This can be seen in photographs 4 and 5.
  • After an additional 60m of block paving which can be seen in photographs 6 and 7, there is another tarmac service road with drop kerbs on either side.
  • The service road can be seen in photograph 8.
  • Following this there is a section of tarmac pavement. To your right after a few metres you will find the main entrance to the David Keir Building.

David Keir Building Main Entrance to Drop Off Point

  • Keep going down Stranmillis Road for approximately 25m.
  • The surface of the pavement is tarmac with manhole covers.
  • There is a slight gradient leading down towards the drop off point.
  • There is a slight gradient leading towards the road.

Continue up Stranmillis Road for 90m to Ashby Tower

  • Continue up Stranmillis Road for approximately 90m.
  • There is a slight gradient leading uphill as well as a slight gradient leading up to Stranmillis Road.
  • The surface of the pavement is tarmac and features manhole covers.

Drop off Bay Area 30m

  • There is a drop kerb leading to the service road exit road to the drop off point. This can be seen in photograph 1.
  • The exit road has a width of approximately 5m until you reach the drop kerb to additional pavement. As can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
  • There is then a section of tarmac pavement for approximately 20m as shown in photograph 4.
  • Along this section of the pavement there is a tree restricting the width of the pavement to 120cm, visible in photograph 5.
  • After 20m of pavement there is a drop kerb down to the entrance to the drop off point this road is approximately 5m leading to the drop kerb onto more pavement. This can be seen in photographs 6 and 7.
