Introduction

  • The route for the High Street is approximately 0.3 miles long and will take approximately 7 minutes to walk.
  • There is step-free access throughout the High Street with no level changes.

Council Office to Pedestrian Walkway

  • The High Street starts at Landmark Place, next to Slough Borough Council Offices.
  • Stay to the left side of the pathway as buses run frequently.
  • There are four Blue Badge bays on the right side of the road as well as a single taxi rank????
  • There is standard on street parking along the right side of the road (not anymore).
  • Along the left side of the pathway there is benched seating.
  • Opposite the PQ bus stop on the right side of the pathways there is a pedestrian walkway which leads down to Herschel Car Park.
  • There are bollards which have a of 100cm between them at the beginning of the walkway.
  • Lighting down the pedestrian walkway is poor during the evening as there is no street lighting.
  • The surface of this part of High Street is concrete block paving.

Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre Entrance to Pedestrian Area

  • Continue ahead past the bus stops.
  • Opposite HSBC Bank is the entrance to the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre and to the left is The Curve.
  • There is benched seating between Greggs and The Phone Hub.
  • The High Street surface is concrete block paving.
  • Stay to the left and continue ahead for approximately 50m.
  • There is a taxi rank to the right of Starbucks.
  • Opposite Starbucks Coffee is where the pedestrian area begins.

Starbucks Coffee to Wilko

  • The remaining part of this route to the end of the pedestrian area is all level and has a surface of concrete block paving.
  • There are several low marble seating areas throughout the High Street.
  • Opposite McDonald's is another entrance into the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre.
  • Continue ahead for approximately 45m and opposite Boots is an additional entrance to the shopping centre.
  • To the right of Santander is an entrance into the shopping centre.
  • Continue ahead on High Street and pass Greggs on the left hand side.
  • Inline with Wilko is a set of bollards which indicate that the pedestrian area has come to an end.
