Summary

  • The Special Assistance desk is located in the Departures Terminal, to the right as you enter the Departures entrance.

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The airport is located near St Peters, west of the capital St Helier.
      From St Helier head northwest on the A2 Victoria Avenue.
      After 2.5 km the road turns slightly left and becomes the A1 La Route de la Haule.
      After 850m at the roundabout, take the second exit onto A12 La Route de Beaumont, signposted St Peter and St Ouen.
      After 1.7 km, at the roundabout, take the first exit onto B36 L'Avenue de la Reine Elizabeth II, signposted Red Houses.
      Continue 1.2 km to the next roundabout.
      Take the second exit and enter the airport.
    • There is an Express Drop Off zone directly outside the Departures Terminal main entrance. Stopping is only permitted to allow passengers to be dropped off.
      The first 30 minutes of parking in the Long Stay Car Park is free, allowing a longer time for drop off.
      The Long Stay Car Park is opposite the Departures Terminal Building. Blue Badge parking is available in this car park.
      The Arrivals Car Park is outside the Arrivals Terminal and is a short stay car park. Blue Badge parking is available in this car park.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • LibertyBus operate a frequent direct bus service (route 15) between Liberation Station in St Helier and the airport. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
      Buses drop off outside the Departures Terminal entrances and pick up at the bus stop outside the Arrivals Terminal.
      Other services that also stop at/near the airport including route 9 between Greve de Lecq and St Helier and route 22 between L'Etacq and St Helier.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not a member of staff trained in British Sign Language.
  • British Sign Language interpreters cannot be provided on request.
  • There is an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • The assistance dog toilet or toileting area is located the grass verge at the end of the Departures Terminal.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are not available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact the Special Assistance desk in the Departures Lounge.
  • For passengers requiring Special Assistance, please let your airline know of your particular needs at least 48 hours before you travel. They will then make arrangements to ensure your requirements are met.
    If you are planning on travelling with your own electric wheelchair, please advise your airline in advance.
    Please check in at least 90 minutes before the stated time of departure.
  • For Blue Badge bay users wishing to take their Blue Badge with them when travelling abroad, contact the Customer Relations desk to obtain a temporary parking permit to display in the car.
  • For passengers with particular needs in relation to autism, dementia or other particular mental health needs, please contact the Customer Relations team by e-mail at least 48 hours before travel, specifying particular requirements. They will then endeavour to meet your needs.

Passenger Services (Special Assistance)

  • The counter is located to the right as you enter the Departures entrance.
  • The counter is approximately 5m (5yd 1ft) from the Departures entrance.
  • The counter is clearly visible from the entrance.
  • There is step-free access to the counter.
  • There is a clear unobstructed route to the counter.
  • There are no windows, TVs, glazed screens or mirrors behind the counter which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read.
  • The counter is not placed in front of a background which is patterned.
  • The lighting levels at the counter are good.
  • The height of the counter is very high (111cm+).
  • There is sufficient space to write or sign documents on the counter.
  • There is a lowered section of the counter.
  • The height of the lowered section at the counter is 78cm.
  • There is sufficient space to write or sign documents on the lowered section of the counter.
  • There is a clear knee recess beneath the low/lowered section of the counter.
  • The counter is staffed.
  • There is a hearing assistance system at the counter.
  • The type of system is a fixed loop.
  • The hearing assistance system is signed.
  • Staff are trained to use the hearing system.
  • Signs and universally accepted symbols or pictograms, indicating lifts, stairs, WCs, circulation routes and other parts of the building are provided near the counter.

  • Wheelchairs may be borrowed to use within the airport buildings from the Special Assistance desk.
    For passengers with special assistance needs relating to autism, dementia or other similar conditions, please contact the Customer Relations team by e-mail on [email protected] and specify any particular requirements or needs to help make the journey through the airport check-in and security system easier.
    The team will make their best endeavours to meet those requirements and to provide assistance.

    • Special Assistance should be pre-booked at least 48 hours before travel with the passenger's airline.

    • Assistance dogs only are permitted in the Terminal buildings and must be kept on a lead at all times.
    • If required, a member of staff can provide assistance with luggage.
    • There are wheelchairs available to borrow that are free of charge.
    • Passengers wishing to travel with their own electric wheelchair should advise their airline in advance.
    • Accessibility on the aircraft depends on the individual airline.
    • A member of the Special Assistance Team can provide assistance from the desk, around the airport and to the aircraft ramp.
    • There is also a Special Assistance seating area located airside at the rear of Duty Free.
    • Wheelchairs are also available from this location for transfer to the Departure Gates.
