Route Information

Harbour Village - Herm Common

Herm Common - Shell Beach

  • This section of the route is approximately 550m.
  • The route heads into Herm Common.
  • The surface of the path in Herm Common is grass.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes along the route.
  • There are rabbit holes in places along the route, which may present a trip hazard.
  • The path passes the Robert Cross Burial Tomb.
  • There is clear route signage along the route.
  • As the path heads nearer to Shell Beach, there is layer of light sand on the path.
  • The layer of sand gets thicker the closer you get to Shell Beach.
  • At the end of Herm Common, the path reaches Shell Beach and the Kiosk. The Kiosk is only open during peak season.

Shell Beach - Belvoir Bay Beach

  • This section of the route is approximately 670m.
  • After Shell Beach the route head towards Belvoir Bay Beach.
  • The route goes along some of the Coastal Paths.
  • There are some steep slopes along this part of the route and it may not be suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments.
  • The first surface of the path has light sand and there is a moderate slope as it leads towards the coastal path.
  • As the path progress the surface changes from sand to being unsurfaced and uneven in places.
  • There are easy, moderate and steep slopes along the coastal path.
  • There are public toilets located approximately 370m along the coastal path.
  • The coastal path leads down to Belvoir Bay Beach.

Belvoir Bay Beach - Manor Village

  • This section of the route is approximately 280m.
  • After Belvoir Bay Beach the route heads towards Manor Village at the centre of the Island.
  • At Belvoir Bay Beach, there is clear signage directing to Manor Village.
  • There is a steep slope leading to Manor Village.
  • The surface of the path varies between concrete and unsurfaced.
  • The path is uneven in places.
  • There are stone resting points at places along the path.

Manor Village - Harbour Village

  • This section of the route is approximately 510m.
  • The route reaches Manor Village.
  • The paths within the village are unsurfaced.
  • There are easy slopes around the village.
  • The village contains some of private residences for Islanders, holiday cottages, the Oxen shoeing stocks and St Tugal's Chapel.
  • There is a steep slope leading from Manor Village down to Harbour Village.
  • There are stone resting points along the path.
  • The path begins unsurfaced but has a tarmac surface as it nears Harbour Village.
  • There is a woodland walk located off the path.
  • The route finishes in Harbour Village near to the White House Hotel.
