Tour Introduction

  • The Tour runs throughout the yearm except during The Championships.
  • The tour of the grounds takes about 90 minutes.
  • The route includes many steps which some may find challenging.
  • An alternative step-free route is available, please call +44 (0)20 8946 6131 for further details.
  • From July to September there are public tours in Spanish every day at 14:00.
  • For private groups, tours can be provided in 18 different languages: English, Cantonese, Czech, Dutch, Flemish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Malay, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish.

Gate 4, Parking and Getting Around

Outside Access (Museum and Shop Entrance)

  • Entrance View

Tour Departure Point and Order of Play Boards

Southern Concourse Towards No.1 Court

  • The tour moves along the southern concourse, with courts 14 to 17 on the left and the No.1 Court shop on the right.
  • There is a long slight slope along the path, with a handrail on the right.
  • The surface of the path is block paving.
  • The tour stops next to Court 17, where the guide will give a talk.
  • After the talk, the tour moves from the South West entrance to No.1 Court.

No.1 Court to Aorangi Terrace (Henman Hill)

  • The tour moves into No1 Court via the South West Entrance.
  • There is a slight slope at the entrance into the court.
  • The surface of the walkways in the entrance is tiled.
  • The tour follows the walkways around the court.
  • There are slopes along the walkways.
  • The surface of the walkways is painted concrete.
  • There is a long slight slope leading from the walkway to the No.1 Court wheelchair spaces.
  • The tour will stop here for the guide to do a talk and an opportunity to take photos of the court.
  • From here the tour returns back to the walkways and follows the walkways to the stairs lead from No.1 Court to Aorangi Terrace (Henman Hill).
  • For any visitors that are unable to use the stairs the tour will go via a lift which overcomes the steps.

Lift (No.1 Court to Aorangi Terrace)

  • There is a lift for public use.

  • From No.1 Court the tour moves to the bottom of Aorangi Terrace (Henman Hill).
  • Here the tour will stop, where the guide will give a talk and there will be an opportunity to take photos.
  • The tour moves along the St Mary's Walk towards Court 18.
  • The surface of the walkway is block paving.
  • Just before Court 18 there is a changing places toilet and standard toilets available for visitors to use.
  • There is a long slight slope leading down beside Court 18.
  • There is a level landing halfway down the slope where the tour stops so the guide can give a talk, before carrying on down the slope.
  • At the bottom of the slope the tour stops next to a plaque for the longest match in Wimbledon history, which took place on Court 18.

Changing Places (Court 18 - St Mary's Walk)

  • Location and Access View
    • The facility is located along St Mary's Walk, to the right of Court 18.
    • The facility is in addition to standard and accessible toilets.
    • There is level access into the facility.
    • The facility surveyed is for the sole use of disabled people.
    • The colour contrast between the external door and wall is poor.

  • There are 2 sets of doors into the press area, both over 75cm wide, with an extended leaf which can be opened by the tour guide if required.

Press Interview Rooms

  • The entrance to the main interview room is located along the corridor.

  • The tour follows the walkway to the Members Enclosure where there is a view over the south area of the grounds.
  • There is a talk and a photo opportunity at this point.
  • There is an accessible toilet located at the rear of the Members' Restaurant.
  • From here the tour moves back across the Members' Restaurant to the lift back down to St Mary's Walk,
  • The surface of this part of the tour route is vinyl, artificial grass and tiles.
  • There is either steps or a lift back down to St Mary's Walk.

  • After exiting the lift the tour moves through the media walkways towards St Mary's Walk.

  • There are bollards at the entrance to the Centre Court Tunnel.
  • The bollards contrast visually with the path and there is over a 100cm width between them.

Centre Court Tunnel and Honour Boards to Centre Court Lift

  • There is step-free access to the tunnel.
  • The surface of the flooring is tarmac.
  • At the end of the tunnel there is a slight slope.
  • At the bottom of the slight slope there is a gate.

Centre Court - Level 5 to End of Tour

  • After exiting the lift the tour moves along the corridor to the level 5 wheelchair spaces.
  • There are 2 sets of double of doors leading from the lift to the Centre Court level 5 walkways.
  • Both sets of double doors are over 150cm wide and the tour guide will open them.
  • There is step-free access on the walkways.
  • The tour stops at the level 5 wheelchair spaces where the tour guide will give a talk and there is an opportunity for photos.
  • From the wheelchair spaces the tour returns along the walkway to the lift and back to the ground floor.

End of Tour

  • After Centre Court the tour finishes by returning to the shop and museum.
  • There is a slight slope leading from Centre Court back to the area between Centre Court and the Museum & Tour.
  • Once the tour has finished visitor are welcome to either buy gifts from the shop, explore the museum, or have some food or drink in Wingfield Café.
