Introduction

  • This route plan covers the journey from Leys Avenue to Station Road via The Wynd.
  • The journey is approximately 160 metres.

Leys Avenue

  • Turn into The Wynd from Leys Avenue.
  • Continue ahead towards Openshaw Way.
  • There is a continuous easy downhill slope along this section of the route.
  • Towards the end of the path be sure to bare right towards the road.
  • There is a drain in the centre of the pathway that makes the ground uneven (photograph 6).

Openshaw Way Crossing

  • After 40 metres cross the road over Openshaw Way towards A Different Calibre Ltd.
  • There is no tactile paving at the crossing.
  • There are dropped kerbs on both sides of the crossing with level access between the path and the road.
  • The road surface is uneven block paving.
  • Be wary of traffic coming from the left.

The Wynd

  • After crossing, continue ahead into the pedestrianised area.
  • The surface of the path consists of uneven block paving.
  • The path narrows in places due to obstructions such as trees, restaurant signs and lamp posts.
  • There is bench seating available towards the end of The Wynd (photograph 5).
  • Wheelchair users are advised to keep to the right hand side of the path.

Openshaw Way Crossing

  • After 63 metres, cross the road over Openshaw Way towards The Green House.
  • There is no tactile paving at the crossing.
  • There are dropped kerbs on both sides of the crossing with easy slopes between the path and the road.
  • The road surface is uneven block paving.
  • Be wary of traffic coming from the right.

Station Road

  • After crossing, continue ahead towards Station Road.
  • After 8 metres, there are accessible and standard public toilets available to the left of the path within The Green House.
  • Having passed the toilets, continue for a further 38 metres towards Station Road.
  • The path at this section of the route has a easy upward slope with a surface consisting of block paving.
  • The path narrows in places due to planters and lamp posts along the route.

Access to the Accessible and Standard Toilets

  • Approximately 8 metres after crossing Openshaw Way for the second time, turn left into the Green House.
  • There is an easy upwards slope along the entirety of this section of the route (as shown in photographs 1 and 2).
  • There is a level landing approximately half way up the slope where the standard female and male toilets are located.
  • The accessible toilet is located to the left upon reaching the top of the slope.
  • The section of path between the top of the slope and the accessible toilet consists entirely of tactile paving (as shown in photograph 3).

  • There is an/are accessible toilet(s) within this venue designated for public use.
