Introduction - Alighting/Transferring

  • Exit Points View
    • There is step free access, via lift, from the Jubilee line to exit 2 (Waterloo Road) in the mainline station.
      It is also possible to take another lift up to the mainline station concourse from the Waterloo Road concourse area.
      From the mainline concourse you can use exit 3 (Cab Road) to get level access out to Cab Road or use the stepped exits 5 or 6 towards Waterloo Bridge and the South Bank respectively.
      All other exits are accessed via steps, escalators or a combination of the two.
      The central platform exits give access to the lift.

    • The easiest way to exit the station from the Jubilee line is via exit 2 (Waterloo Road).

  • Line Transfer Summary View

      Access to the Waterloo & City line from the Jubilee line is via is via lift (or escalators), travelator then escalators followed by a long ramp with a steep gradient (or steps) (Route 5).
      The approximate distance of this route is 350 metres (not including travelator or escalators).
      There is a shorter route to the Waterloo and City line via the Waterloo Road concourse but it would involve steps.

Platform(s) (Route 1 - To Waterloo Road Exit - Alight Train onto Platform (Eastbound Trains))

  • Platform Information View
    • This is a straight platform.
    • The platform is flat throughout its length.
    • The platform does not have tactile markings on its edge.
    • The edge of the platform is not clearly marked.

Lift (Route 1 - To Waterloo Road Exit - Take the Lift to Waterloo Road Concourse)

  • The lift is located to the left of the Jubilee line escalators, off the Waterloo Road concourse.
  • Signs indicating the location of the lift are not available from the entrance.
  • The lift is approximately 35m (38yd 10in) from the Jubilee line platforms.

Route 1 - To Waterloo Road Exit - Follow the Walkway to the Ticket Barriers

  • Exit the lift and turn right.
  • Follow the walkway until you reach the Waterloo Road concourse area, following the 'Way out' signage.
  • Bear diagonally left to the ticket barriers on the left hand side.

Concourse (Route 1 - To Waterloo Road Exit - Pass Through the Ticket Barriers and Concourse Area)

  • Access View
    • There is level access throughout this concourse area.
    • Pass through the barriers on the left hand side.
      After the barriers proceed straight ahead until you reach the Waterloo Road exit on the left hand side.
  • Barriers View
    • The width of the standard barriers is 60cm.
    • The ticket slot heights for the standard barriers are 94cm (insert ticket) and 101cm (remove ticket).
    • The Oyster card reader height is 105cm for the standard barriers.
    • The width of the wider access barriers is 90cm.
    • The ticket slot heights for the wider access barriers are 92cm (insert ticket) and 102cm (remove ticket).
    • The Oyster card reader height is 100cm for the wider access barriers.
    • Staff are available to provide assistance at the barriers.

Route 2 - Transfer to Bakerloo Line Northbound

  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the central exit signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to level -1.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift and turn left at the end of the access passage to the Jubilee line concourse area.
  • Step 4 – cross the Jubilee line concourse into the opposite passage and follow it around to the left until you reach the travelator.
  • Step 5 – Take the travelator to the opposite end of the Jubilee line interchange passage.
  • Step 6 – at the end of the travelator proceed straight ahead into the opposite passage and follow it until you reach the concourse area.
  • Step 7 – cross the concourse area into the opposite passage and go straight ahead until you reach the Bakerloo line concourse area.
  • Step 8 – cross the concourse diagonally to the left and take the 2nd passage signed for the Bakerloo line.
  • Step 9 – take the 2nd passage on the right and go down the steps to the platform.

Route 3 - Transfer to Bakerloo Line Southbound

  • The approximate distance of this route is 240 metres (not including travelator and steps).
  • This route includes; a lift, a travelator, some short slopes and a long upwards slope with a slight gradient.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the central exit signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to level -1.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift and turn left at the end of the access passage to the Jubilee line concourse area.
  • Step 4 – cross the Jubilee line concourse into the opposite passage and follow it around to the left until you reach the travelator.
  • Step 5 – take the travelator to the opposite end of the Jubilee line interchange passage.
  • Step 6 – at the end of the travelator proceed straight ahead into the opposite passage and follow it until you reach the concourse area.
  • Step 7 – cross the concourse area into the opposite passage and go straight ahead until you reach the Bakerloo concourse area.
  • Step 8 – cross the concourse diagonally to the left and take the 1st passage on the opposite side signed for the Bakerloo line southbound.
  • Step 9 – proceed straight ahead up the slope until you reach the platform.

Route 4 - Transfer to Northern Line

  • The approximate distance of this route is 140 metres (not including travelator and steps).
  • This route includes; a lift, a travelator, some short slopes and 20 steps.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the central exit signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to level -1.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift and turn left at the end of the access passage to the Jubilee line concourse area.
  • Step 4 – cross the Jubilee line concourse into the opposite passage and follow it around to the left until you reach the travelator.
  • Step 5 – take the travelator to the opposite end of the Jubilee line interchange passage.
  • Step 6 – at the end of the travelator proceed straight ahead into the opposite passage and follow it until you reach the concourse area.
  • Step 7 – cross the concourse area into the opposite passage.
  • Step 8 - proceed straight ahead to the 1st passage on the right, signed for the Northern line.
  • Step 9 - go down the steps and turn either right for the southbound platform or left for the northbound platform.

Route 5 - Transfer to Waterloo & City Line

  • The approximate distance of this route is 350 metres (not including travelator and escalators).
  • This route includes; a lift, a travelator, some short slopes, an escalator and then either a long downwards ramp (with a steep gradient and no resting areas) or 28 steps.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the central exit signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to level -1.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift and turn left at the end of the short passage to the Jubilee line concourse area.
  • Step 4 – cross the Jubilee line concourse into the opposite passage and follow it around to the left until you reach the travelator.
  • Step 5 – take the travelator to the opposite end of the Jubilee line interchange passage.
  • Step 6 – at the end of the travelator proceed ahead and take the passage on the left hand side, follow it until you reach the northern line concourse area.
  • Step 7 – turn left and take the escalator up to the main ticket hall.
  • Step 8 – bear diagonally to the right and pass through the ticket barriers.
  • Step 9 – take the passage to the right of the pillar, past the ticket machines, down the slope and turn right.
  • Step 10 – pass through the doorway onto the Waterloo & City line concourse area.
  • Step 11 – either take the steps or the steep slope down to the Waterloo & City line - departures platform.
