Introduction - Alighting/Transferring

  • Exit Points View
    • Access to all exits from the Waterloo & City line is via lift then escalators (or steps).
      From the main underground ticket hall you can use the escalator to exit onto the mainline station concourse next to platform 19.
      From the mainline concourse you can use exit 3 (Cab Road) to get level access out to Cab Road or use the stepped exits 5 or 6 towards Waterloo Bridge and the South Bank respectively.
      Alternatively you can exit the mainline station via exit 2 (Waterloo Road) on the level below.
      There is lift access between the mainline station concourse and exit 2 (Waterloo Road).

    • The suggested route for leaving from the Waterloo & City line is via the main station concourse (Route 1).
      This route avoids a stepped passage between the Waterloo & City line and the Waterloo Road concourse area.

Platform(s) (Route 1 - To Mainline Station Concourse - Alight Train onto Platform)

  • Platform Information View

Platform Exit (Route 1 - To Mainline Station Concourse - Take the Second Platform Exit from the Left)

    • There is step-free access at this exit, via lift.

Route 1 - To Mainline Station Concourse - Exit the Lift and Proceed Towards Exit

Station Exit (Route 1 - Main Ticket Hall to Mainline Concourse - Take Escalator to Exit)

Route 2 - Transfer to Bakerloo Line Southbound

  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the 2nd exit from the left, signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to the main ticket hall.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift turn right then left and proceed straight ahead up the slope until you reach the ticket barriers.
  • Step 4 – pass through the barriers and bear diagonally left up the slope towards the escalators.
  • Step 5 – take the escalator down to the Bakerloo line concourse area.
  • Step 6 – at the foot of the escalator take the first passage on the left and then take the first left.
  • Step 7 – take the first right and follow the sloped passage up to the platform.

Route 3 - Transfer to Bakerloo Line Northbound

  • The approximate distance of this route is 105 metres (not including escalators and steps).
  • This route includes; a lift, an escalator and 11 steps.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the 2nd exit from the left, signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to the main ticket hall.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift turn right then left and proceed straight ahead up the slope until you reach the ticket barriers.
  • Step 4 – pass through the barriers and bear diagonally left up the slope towards the escalators.
  • Step 5 – take the escalator down to the Bakerloo line concourse area.
  • Step 6 – at the foot of the escalator take the 2nd passage on the left signed for the Bakerloo line.
  • Step 7 – at the end of the passage turn right and then left down the steps.
  • Step 8 – follow the sloped passage up to the platform.

Route 4 - Transfer to Northern Line

  • The approximate distance of this route is 90 metres (not including escalators and steps).
  • This route includes; a lift, an escalator and 20 steps.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the 2nd exit from the left, signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to the main ticket hall.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift turn right then left and proceed straight ahead up the slope until you reach the ticket barriers.
  • Step 4 – pass through the barriers and bear diagonally left up the slope towards the escalators.
  • Step 5 – take the escalator down to the Bakerloo line concourse area.
  • Step 6 – at the foot of the escalator take the 1st passage on the right signed for the Northern line.
  • Step 7 – at the end of the passage turn right and go down the steps
  • Step 8 – at the foot of the steps turn left for the southbound platform or right for the northbound platform.

Route 5 - Transfer to Jubilee Line

  • The approximate distance of this route is 260 metres (not including escalators and travelator).
  • This route includes; a lift, an escalator, a travelator and another lift.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • Step 1 - alight the train and leave the platform via the 2nd exit from the left, signposted for the lift.
  • Step 2 – take the lift up to the main ticket hall.
  • Step 3 – exit the lift turn right then left and proceed straight ahead up the slope until you reach the ticket barriers.
  • Step 4 – pass through the barriers and bear diagonally right towards the escalators.
  • Step 5 – take the escalator down to the Northern line concourse area.
  • Step 6 – take the 1st passage towards the rear of the concourse on the right hand side, signed for the Jubilee Line.
  • Step 7 - follow the Jubilee line interchange passage until you reach the travelator.
  • Step 8 - take the travelator to the opposite end of the passage.
  • Step 9 – take the 2nd passage on the right signed for the Jubilee line.
  • Step 10 – reach the Jubilee line concourse area and cross it diagonally to the right to the 2nd passage from the left on the opposite side.
  • Step 11 – turn right and take the lift down to level -2.
  • Step 12 - exit the lift, go straight ahead and then either turn right to the westbound platform 5 or left to the eastbound platform 6.
