Introduction - Boarding (the Jubilee Line)

  • Access Routes Summary View
    • This access guide describes the shortest step free routes to the Jubilee line.
      Both routes use lifts to bypass escalators.
      Route 1 is the shortest route and is described in detail below.
      The approximate distance of this route is 120 metres.
      Route 2 picks up the same route but starts in the mainline concourse and is also described in detail below.
      The approximate distance of this route is 140 metres.
      It is also possible to access the Jubilee line from the other side of the underground station, via the interchange passage, but this is a long route via steps/escalators and travelator.
      This route would only be recommended if transferring from the Bakerloo, Northern or Waterloo & City lines.

    • The shortest distance (step free) to the Jubilee line is 120m.
    • This is via the access point located on Waterloo Road.
    • The shortest distance via steps/escalators to the Bakerloo line (southbound) is 75m.
    • This is via the access point located on York Road.
    • The shortest distance via steps/escalators to the Bakerloo line (northbound) is 55m.
    • This is via the access point located on York Road.

Outside Access (Route 1 - Enter the Mainline Station via the Waterloo Road Entrance)

  • Proceed straight ahead for approximately 60 metres until you reach the lift.
  • The lift is signed from the barriers and there is a bench seat to rest along this part of the route.

Lift (Route 1 - Take the lift Down to Level -2)

  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is located at the end of the walkway to the left of the escalators.
  • Signs indicating the location of the lift are not available from the entrance.
  • The lift is approximately 65m (71yd 3in) from the Waterloo Road entrance.
  • The lift is a standard lift.
  • A member of staff does not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are 0 (Waterloo Road concourse), -1 (Jubilee line concourse and interchange passage), -2 (Jubilee line platforms).

  • From the lift the distance to the westbound platform is approximately 18 metres.
