Shepherds Road to Rickmansworth Road Crossing

  • Continue along Shepherds Road.
  • This part of the route is approximately 320 metres long.
  • There is step-free access throughout this part of the route.
  • The pathway is tarmac and can be uneven in places.
  • Several driveways for access to houses are along this route.
  • After 165 metres, a litter bin narrows the pathway to approximately 90cm.
  • A little further along is the entrance to Watford Grammar School.
  • Cross the access road into the Grammar School.

  • Once across, proceed onwards towards Rickmansworth Road.
  • Along this route the pathway narrows in places to approximately 85cm, due to lamp posts.
  • On reaching the junction with Rickmansworth Road, bear left and crossover Shepherds Road.
  • Dropped kerbs with tactile paving are available on both sides of the road.
  • Caution is advised as traffic will be coming from both directions.
  • Once across proceed along Rickmansworth Road.
  • After approximately 40 metres you will reach Rickmansworth Road crossing point.

Rickmansworth Road Crossing

  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving at this crossing point.
  • The crossing point is controlled by a visual indicator.
  • The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
  • There are rotating cones at the base of the push button boxes to indicate when it is safe to cross.
  • On crossing Rickmansworth Road, bear left onto the pathway.

Rickmansworth Road Crossing to Mildred Avenue Crossing

  • Continue along Rickmansworth Road.
  • This part of the route is step-free and approximately 180 metres long.
  • The surface of the path is mainly tarmac and is uneven in places.
  • Several driveways for access to houses are along this route.
  • Heading towards Harwoods Road, a bus stop narrows the pathway to approximately 100cm.

  • Traffic comes from both directions.
  • Once across, bear right and follow the pathway along Harwoods Road.
  • Along this part of the route is a postbox which narrows the pathway to approximately 100cm.
  • Continue until you reach Mildred Avenue crossing point.

Mildred Avenue Crossing

  • This crossing point has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • Caution should be taken when crossing due traffic.
  • Traffic comes from both directions.
  • There are no visual or audio announcers at this crossing.
  • Once across continue along Harwoods Road.

Mildred Avenue Crossing to Whippendell Road Crossing

  • This part of the route is step-free and approximately 285 metres long.
  • The pathway consists of tarmac and can be uneven in places.
  • Along this route the pathway can narrow to as little as 80cm due to trees and lamp posts.
  • A driveway with a slightly raised dropped kerb is also on this route.
  • Continue until you reach Whippendell Road crossing point.

Whippendell Road Crossing

  • After crossing bear right onto the pathway.

Whippendell Road Crossing to Harwoods Road Crossing

  • Follow Harwoods Road for approximately 385 metres until you reach the junction with Vicarage Road.

  • After approximately 60 metres you will reach Chester Road crossing point.
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both side of the road.
  • Caution should be taken when crossing due to traffic coming from both directions.
  • Once across continue ahead.
  • The pathway can narrow to approximately 90cm due to trees and lamp posts.
  • Proceed along the path until you reach the Harwoods Road crossing point.

Harwoods Road Crossing

  • Harwoods Road crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • Caution should be taken when crossing.
  • Harwoods Road is one-way and traffic will be coming from your left.
  • There are no visual or audio announcers at this crossing.
  • Once across Harwoods Road, bear left and then right and follow the pathway onto Vicarage Road.

Harwoods Road Crossing to Vicarage Road Crossing

  • Continue along Vicarage Road for approximately 15 metres.
  • The pathway is mainly tarmac and may be uneven in places.
  • The crossing point is located on the left.

Vicarage Road Crossing

  • Vicarage Road crossing point has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The crossing point is controlled by visual indicators.
  • The visual indicators are activated by push buttons.
  • Once across, bear left onto Vicarage Road.

Vicarage Road Crossing to the Outer Concourse

  • Continue along Vicarage Road.
  • There are telephone cable boxes and lamposts on the first part of the pathway.
  • At this point of the route the pathway narrows to as little as 95cm.
  • Passing the south side bus stop continue along the pathway.
  • The surface of the pathway is tarmac.
  • This part of the route can be uneven in places
  • Proceed until you reach Watford Hospital service road.
  • There are dropped kerbs, but no tactile paving at this crossing.
  • The service road is one-way and traffic will be approaching from your right.
  • Once across this road, you have reached the outer concourse of Vicarage Road stadium.
