Retford is one of Bassetlaw’s most historic towns and its market was granted its first charter in 1246 – a tradition that continues three days a week selling fresh produce and antiques and collectables.
Fine Georgian buildings flank its picturesque Market Square and shoppers can browse the main high street for bargains and explore the town’s network of independent shops, cafés, restaurants and bars.
On the outskirts of the town centre you’ll find the award-winning Kings’ Park which was first opened in 1938 to commemorate not only the reign of King George V, but also the Coronation year of King George VI.
Retford also boasts the popular Bassetlaw Museum, the historic Majestic Theatre and the nearby Idle Valley Nature Reserve.
Retford is easily accessible by car and has excellent public transport links into and out of London, Nottingham, Sheffield and Doncaster via rail and bus, as well as other nearby towns and villages. It has a number of Changing Places facilities within the town centre.
