    About Tuxford

Tuxford’s proximity to Retford and Newark means it has a strong history as an old coaching town, and is located on the old route that linked London to Edinburgh.

This historical link is bolstered by the Museum of the Horse, which can be found in the Sally Mitchell’s Gallery, where visitors can immerse themselves in all things equestrian. Other attractions include the Tuxford Windmill, and an old lock up where prisoners stayed overnight on their way to London.

Tuxford is conveniently located close to the A1(M) trunk road and is serviced by a number of bus routes that link to the surrounding towns and villages.
